Note 5 - Marshamallow when will we get it???

Re: Marshmallow update arriving soon...

Here, according to PhoneArena, is when you can expect your Samsung phone to get Marshmallow:

Galaxy Note 5 (December 2015)
Galaxy S6 edge+ (January 2016)
Galaxy S6 (January 2016)
Galaxy S6 edge (January 2016)
Galaxy Note 4 (February 2016)
Galaxy Note Edge (February 2016)
Galaxy A5 (March 2016)
Galaxy S5 (April 2016)
Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (April 2016)

I just bought a Note 5 today, so not long to wait.

Already late since my Note 5 hasn't updated. I'm with slow AT&T though.

What? December isn't over... there are still 15 hours left, so anything can happen.

(although probably 0% chance for my Verizon Note 5) :)

I was really hoping T-Mobile would have had it to us by the end of the year. I would check almost daily to see, no luck. I guess it'll come when it wants to. Got to love Andriod and carriers

Re: Marshmallow on Note 5

Samsung has started the Beta Program, users signed up for that program are receiving Marshmallow 6.0 updates. The program ends on 18th of Jan.
So do not expect an update before that. I am assuming it will be available by the end of January.
And a new leak did showed that Note 5 had been postponed to January. Some were speculating the delay because of 6.0.1 release.

I'm on Verizon (Note 5)... M is definitely going to come after February knowing Big Red lol 😑

Doze will be nice though... ANY kind of battery saving is good in my book

I am going to have to make a decision between the Note 5 and Nexus 6P. I would like to make it Apple to apples, but the 6P has 6.0.1, which makes the battery life on it so good it is a no brainier to stick with the the 6P. Easily two days of moderate use without charging!!!
If I knew it would do the same for the Note 5, and if it was coming to Verizon soon I would stick with the Note 5.
Any word other than last months rumors on when it will be out????

Re: Marshmallow on Note 5

Not sure. Might be a while. I had the 6p and it was a good phone. My microphone was bad so I returned it. The new Doze feature was decent but not that impressive. Personally. I don't need my phone to last two days I have the ability to charge it everyday. So getting marshmallow is not important to me. It is not that different than lollipop.

How do we sign up for this? And is it safe?

I had Doze on my Moto X Pure Edition before switching to the Now 5. I saw no difference.

I have the pure as well as this note 5. I went back to using my N5 and I'm not seeing battery life as good overall. It's the S pen that keeps brining me back to the note. I just keep a charger at my desk in the office if I need it. Maybe around 5 or so but at that point I've been up and using my phine for 11 hours

I'm fine waiting for it. The only thing that interests me is Doze-like implementation. Seems to me that once you get a couple three OSs beyond what natively appears on your new phone, it's not a good fit. It slows down or buggers something up. I remember the original Nexus 7 became practically useless with updates as it ran like a turtle on two legs.

The Beta Program is limited to Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users only for those who signed up for the Program via Samsung's website.
The Beta Program was launched for a few carriers in South Korea, and they were also seeking Galaxy S6 users from UK.

Re: Marshmallow on Note 5

The existing Beta Program users have also gotten Android 6.0.1 update already to test it out. That is pretty cool, Samsung's moving at a good pace.

So I am waiting for Marshmallow as well. I am a recent convert to android from apple. So I am not too familiar with the update process but if you do update to Marshmallow and it causes problems can you easily revert back to lollipop?

No. Most carrier-branded Samsung phones have internal "fuses" that are purposely blown during the upgrade process, to prevent downgrading.
