Note 5 no IR blaster

Was at Best Buy looking at a Note 5
Asked about why they removed the IR blaster.
He said the new smart tv hooks up to WI fi.
So with yer note 5 hooked up to WI fi you can set it up on yer tv & control yer tv wirh yer phone.
Now how yer gonna operate yer dish network box I got no idea.

Dish is going to have to update their technology if they get enough complaints.

Directv works over wifi so I can control that box. But I haven't been able to figure out how to control my Samsung Smart TV now that the blaster is gone.

Probably only their newest smart tv's have that function. I have a sammy smart tv. Top of the line in its day but it will not screen mirror and the smart software sucks. I don't mind replacing a phone every couple of years but not a tv. They could update firmware on tv to give more wifi control but they won't

I wish the ir blaster came back but I know it won't. I also prefer micro usb but they will go to usb 3. Planned obsolescence.

I went 4 months ago and bought a Vizio 70" 4K Smart TV that was on sale at Best Buy.

Put it on the wall.
Man what a difference for football season.
it has the internet on it. It can upgrade the software on the TV threw the internet.
It has Hula and netflex it you want to subscribe to it.

I haven't went into the setting and looked at everything.

But I can tell you this.
Is the Best TV I have ever owned.
Picture is incredible
I'm on Dish, had to get a new HD box.
Looking forward to the next new note to be released.
Will be a hard wait.

I used IR on the Note 4 in hotels. Saying TVs are now "smart" as the reason it's gone is hilariously shady.

It was so profits would be higher. And the IR is greatly missed by business travelers. Hotel remotes are disgusting.

The lack of the IR blaster is one of the reasons I keep my old Note 4 by my bed. I also use it for the Internet at night while I'm charging my Note 5. That and about 5 other things.
