Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

It sucks. I think that's part of the reason I keep looking at the 6s Plus. I always knew I wasn't keeping the Note 5 as I knew I was either going to the Nexus or iPhone. But after seeing the Nexus I had to order one. It sucks seeing that I ordered it 29 days ago and have nothing yet.
That's one of the reasons I believe that Nexus devices should be sold in carrier stores.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

i have my note5 as prim phone. meanwhile I have iPhone 5s for my work.. that's solve the problem to me :)

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Yeah, the carrier bloat doesn't bother me. But I understand it's a concern to some.

Yeah, I despise it. Plus having to wait for updates to go through the carriers. I much prefer the Nexus/Apple way of doing things. And with the security issues with Android, it makes patches come out later when you have a skinned/carrier phone.

Now I have a new perspective regarding updates. I used to be like you. I would read about the fixes, features, patches that updates bring. And I would wait impatiently for them. And when I would read that others on competing carriers received the updates and I didn't it would bother me. I don't pay attention to them anymore. So, when I get them its a total surprise. I like this way better because I don't even know if I got it later or sooner. I get it when I get it. I'm much happier this way.

Very interesting discussion.

I just bought a Nexus 5X. All is good except having lots of issues doing video chat with family who are mostly using iPhone. Texting issues due to imessage as well.

It's very tough for people who like both Android and iOS.

I do think the is Nexus 5X is s really solid phone due to pure Android experience and very good camera. Decent battery life helps too.

Yeah, the iMessage thing is huge. Apple really hit a homerun with that.

I just can't deal with apple. I feel like they are making decisions for me and coercing me into using their apps. With Android I have more freedom. Or at least it feels like I do.

I feel the same way.
It's not only the limitations of the iOS but the sub par specs and features that bother me.
Also constant freezes and close out of apps. I think I had 4 in one day. I never had one on my Note 5 since I got it over a month ago.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

And the size has not changed, which was a dislike for you.
No, it has changed. I'm fine with the height. I like big screen phones. I hated the width of that thing. And the rounded back. Made it feel gigantic. And completely unusable for me. I'm on a Note 5, which is only a little bit smaller and I'm fine with the size of this.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

In all fairness, performance with those specs either outperforms or is equal to basically any flagship Android phone.

Well on some areas yes iPhones are similar but the screen is not even close.
And yes I can see the difference between a 1080p and a 1440 screen. The Amoled screen is much nicer and does extremely well in direct sunlight.

I am like this somewhat. I get it is their phone / OS so they will make it how they want but I mainly hated how they also were acting as police to my data plan. You can't update unless on wifi, apps over 100 MB require wifi, certain downloads require wifi .. Why? If I want to use mobile why no option?

Some people don't have Wi-Fi, only their phone and mobile data. So they are out of luck with some things?

Yep. Unless they can connect to some sort of wifi they can't do it. Such as my buddies at work ask for my hotspot so they can do software updates when they are released. It is mobile for me but their phone sees them on wifi and allows it.

That is ridiculous.

My phone warns me if something is a big file and I just ok to do my data.

That is the attitude that makes it where I can't deal with Apple, they know what is best for you, even when you are paying your own bills. If Apple was paying for your data, then that would be completely different.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

No, it warns you just like Android. It says App is over 100MB etc etc. Cancel or Continue. Had it this morning when downloading a Golf Game ;)

Does it let you download an app over 100 MB on cellular?

In my experience, it never lets you download something bigger than 100MB over mobile. With Android, it at least enables you to defeat it, not so with iOS from what I've seen.

Amid all the pluses and minuses for and against Android and for and against iOS, chock this one up advantage: Android.
