Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I'm getting irritated with myself because I keep switching back and forth between the two platforms. I just want to make a decision already and stick with it. Had the iPhone 6S on launch weekend. Nothing wrong with it. Really enjoyed it actually. And it complemented my iPad Air 2 perfectly. But yesterday was day 13 of my 14 day return window and I panicked. Went out and exchanged it for the Note 5. Bought a case, screen protector, and wireless charger. So, I'm all in. Haven't touched my beloved iPad since. Now here is the problem. When I use the note, I don't want to use any complementary devices. After a while, I miss my iPad and I want to switch back, but I need the iPhone to go with it. I have been doing this for years. And it's making me feel quite ridiculous. But I can't choose. And I don't know why.
I hear you. That is pretty much a reason why I ended up with both Note 5 and iPhone 6S Plus. Both are excellent smartphones. People here will probably call me crazy. I just couldn't make myself return one.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I have both and switch back and forth frequently. Just pop out the SIM card and put it in the other. I would have a hard time choosing one of them.

How does that work? Once i used the iPhone and switched back to my Note 5, all my text messages went to my iPad and Mac. I had to turn my phone number OFF on each device. So it did not seem that I could easily switch between the two. It was my first iPhone ever.

That challenge with messaging and my struggle to justify both the Note 5 and the 6s+, was the reason I gave back the 6s+. I did enjoy it, and I still might go for it again. But I don't see giving up my Note 5, ever.

You need to make sure you sign out of iMessage and FaceTime BEFORE you pull your sim card out of your iPhone. I have gotten to the point I don't even sign in to iMessage and FaceTime anymore when I use my iPhone 6 Plus. If you don't sign out anyone sending you a message from an iMessage device will only go to your devices that are signed into iMessage.

Dude....this thread is God sent cause I have my 6S that I love but I'm bored as a mother! I plan on returning it tomorrow and get a Note 5 but I'm not a 100% decided. Going to read through the pages of this thread and make a decision.

So far I've been happy with it. It's a better smartphone for sure. But the iOS ecosystem is difficult to ignore. iMessage and FaceTime really make a difference.

Are you talking about the note here (when you say so far you're happy?)Honestly I NEVER use FaceTime and iMessage is cool but everyone I know owns an android phone.

Yeah I'm talking about the Note 5. This phone is truly feature packed and performance for me has been exceptional. There are a lot of little features that just make sense. If you don't use iMessage or FaceTime there really is no good reason to not try the Note 5.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

That's OK. Everyone is different. I just left the iPhone 6s plus for the note 5. I buy phones like a crackhead buys Crack so I know how it is. Goodluck with your choice.

First of thanks a lot for your input, it truly help :)

Exactly, I love a phone that has lots of features and everything. Ok so basically I have the 6S and I didn't want a bigger phone but now I want one so bad, I look at this 6S and it looks tiny and very restricted with the display size. I also do not like the fact that I am limited to 720P when watching content. So what I was going to do first was getting a 6S plus. But then I'm thinking spending $900 on a phone is kinda ridiculous (64GB version outright) vs a note 5 brand new on eBay for $670. I'm still on my return period with my 6s which is already $800 for the 64GB. I can afford the 6S plus but giving 9 bills to a phone is just painful, for a damn phone lol. But I love that iOS just works, everything works the way it is supposed to and it is very very very reliable. But at the same time I miss being able to use multi window, something I use all the time on samsung devices and also being able to download movies and files online without having to depend on ITunes. I wish I could have both really and I know a 100% that whichever route I go I will want the other phone. So I'm screwed either way haha

That's my plight as well my friend. But, this time I going to pick the better device over the better ecosystem. Performance on the Note 5 is really good and stable. I haven't had any issues. And the big screen is really nice. I don't need to use my tablet really. And any time I have the Note I use the s-pen a lot. So I really make the most of having a Note smartphone.

I hear you. Cause I was going to buy a tablet as well but I feel like if I get the Note 5 the tablet won't be necessary. But damn man with IOS is just those little details that are so good. Like the iOS keyboard to me is the absolute best ever. Like the auto correct is so on point I just love it. Man I hate making decisions like this! I have till October 19 to return the iPhone 6S. But I don't know man. Funny thing is that I won't miss 3D Touch. It's fun to use at the moment but it doesn't not compare to the billions of features the Note 5 offer. If I return the iPhone it's just those little things that I will miss.

There are little things about three iPhone and iOS that I miss. I miss the lightning connector. I miss the mute switch. I don't miss the keyboard. I think the Samsung keyboard is better and I like that there is a top row for numbers. I love the wireless charging. I love the double tap on the home button to access the camera. I love that when I take a selfie I can just say smile instead of trying to press a button. I will not miss how Touch ID is implemented in the 6S. It's too fast.

I hear you. I actually like the speed of TouchId now, at first I didn't like it but I got used to it so now I don't expect to see the notifications from the lock screen anymore, I just unlock the phone and go straight to the notification bar. I do however miss an led notification light.

But considering that a 64 GB 6S is $800, a 64GB 6S plus is $900 and a note 5 32GB is $670, it's a pretty strong case for the Note especially for the fact that you actually get more with the note.

Next year it'll be even harder to make a decision between the Note 6 and the 7plus.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

There are a couple of things that I believe Apple needs to do with the next iPhone and iOS. They need to up the screen resolution. 1080p for the smaller model and 1440p for the plus. They need to fix the cloud storage for videos and pictures. If I delete from my device it deletes from the cloud. And it shouldn't be that way. What's the point of having so much cloud storage if I can't separate it from my phone storage? They need to figure out push email for Gmail in the native app.

Absolutely agree a 100%. I did not that that deleting a pic from the device deletes it from iCloud as well. This makes no sense whatsoever, it's like what's the point of the cloud then?

The screen on the note is sharper. The spen although I don't use it all the time. It doesn't freeze on rotation like my iPhone did. I like using Google now better than Siri. To me the build of the Note is better and more ergonomical than the iPhone and I think the camera is a tad better as photos come out sharper.

I do miss imessage though. I wish Samsung had something similar or at least we could pay to use imessage but I get along just fine without it.

Overall I like the note far better than the iPhone 6s plus. Now to be fair though my wife's iPhone 6s plus does not have the issues mine had. And my iPhone 6 plus had no issues either. But even if mine didn't have issues overall I like the note 5 more.

Any issues with performance on the note? Any major lag or force close?

On the Note it froze once. But that was when I first started it up. I think it was do to everything downloading and setting up. I restarted it and it has been great since. No issues yet.
