Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I had a T-Mobile Dash years ago that was similar to some of the older blackberry phones in that it had a physical keyboard and not just numbers. It was good then, but once I got used to a virtual keyboard, especially on something the size of a note, I can type up a storm with two thumbs.
That was my issue. I've gotten used to virtual keyboards. Physical ones seem weird to me now. To actually have to press in was a weird motion all of a sudden. I thought I was going to really like it because I used to love BBs.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I use a Note 3 and 2 ipads and a windows tablet too. What's your problem? Why do you feel u must have an iphone to use your ipad? It's silly.
Well, I think that all of it is silly to a certain extent. My whole addiction to tech seems silly. But it exists. I just had a weird thing about having mixed platforms. I don't like it. I want to be with one or the other.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Yeah I would probably never use the physical keyboard. I think once my mom is used to the virtual keyboard, she will be fine.

She didn't want to go to a smartphone, but when I switched us to TMO, I just told her it was a flip phone or smartphone and she didn't want a flip phone lol

I can see there are advantages to single platform but it isn't always possible. I need Windows platform for work but I have no interest in Windows phone. I use iPad for games and puzzles but I hate iTunes so I do not wish to sync with any kind of computer. My iPads are synced with each other through iCloud. That is all I need. I use a Windows tablet at work sometimes to make my briefcase lighter. Never use it for anything but work. I use Android phone for pretty much everything but gaming. I do some work on it. Send and receive sms mms email work email etc. I use the spen only to point out things in screenshots of webpages that people need help with. I don't get the desire to be all one ui. I like them all for different things. I don't like ios at all because I need flashplayer and shockwave. Maybe they are outmoded but somebody forgot to tell the thousands of webpages that still use them and do not use html5.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I'm with you guys on the cell phone addiction. Right now I've got the note 5 the 6p and 6s plus. Been using the iphone most of the summer but I always reach for the note and the s pen. I love the 6p but stock really doesn't do much to utilize the big screen like the note does. The scree is so good on the note ad well. I thought going to the iphone would help kick the addiction with only one a year. These phones aren't that different from one generation to the next but I just can't help myself.

Can I just reiterate what another poster said on how nice, calm, and adult this conversation has been? These Apple/Android conversations are hardly ever this calm. Everybody is actually respecting opinions whether it's opposing or not. It's just nice to see.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I agree. Heck, if I could afford it I would have a Nexus, a Note 5, a Windows phone, iphone 6s, and a Priv! It would be fun to have a couple on Tmobile and the rest on VZW. Maybe the iPhone on ATT.

The Note 5 is tops on my list but just a little to expensive for me. I know I will eventually give in and buy one but I need some sort of incentive. Maybe when Note 6 is in development Note 5 will be discounted. I have to pay full price so it would have to be one of those $200 back from Sammy type deals. I don't care about free accessories. I just don't want to spend more than $600 for a 64gb Note 5 and of course would prefer spending less.

I want to stick to one platform because I dislike managing different accounts and ecosystems. I've been on a journey to condense my tech to only what I need. So, I really wanted an all-in-one device to meet my needs. Well, the Note 5 is the best all around smartphone on the market in my opinion. One smartphone, one platform. That's what my goal is. Hopefully, I can kick this tech addiction before 4 lose even more money.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I haven't missed iOS at all in the past week I have had my Note. Cancelled Apple Music and put Google Music on my wifes 6S along with Google Photos. All set right now

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Wait.. You bought a Note 5, made your wife mad and now canceled her Apple Music?

Hahaha

Or women in Canada aren't like women in the US, especially women in the South lol

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Well she doesn't know yet. Apple Music stays in effect till Dec 2nd. She will notice then. Yesterday I loaded Google Music and Google Photos on her phone without her seeing. When she texts me that day saying Apple Music doesn't work I'll tell her to try Google lol

She will be fine. She got over the Note quickly. In any case I bought a queen size bed for my two year old boy and got delivered yesterday. I might be sleeping with the little guy soon lol.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I hear you. I'm in the same boat. I had a Galaxy S4 when it came out. I loved it. I could do so many things with it. I loved exploring all of the things Android could do. At the time, Apple only made small phones and I had no interest in a 3.5 - 4 inch screen. I thought that was a joke. However, over time I noticed how buggy the experience could be. My wife has an iPhone 6 Plus and I would try some of the same apps on her phone and the experience was so smooth to the point where it made the app experience on my Galaxy S4 a complete joke, which really irritated me. Also, I got really tired of the standby battery life compared to her phone. No matter what app I used to kill background processes, it made very little impact. In addition, there would be times when I would have a full battery and if I was in a location with bad cell service, it would just kill my battery even on standby. These were issues that my wife's iPhone just handled better.

I think the last straw for me was when Samsung only offered the Galaxy Note 5 with 64GB of storage. I can live with a sealed battery, but to accept less storage than I had on my Galaxy S4 because it could accept Micro SD cards was not negotiable. So now I have an iPhone 6S Plus. It is a good phone. I'm not going to say I couldn't be happier because there are things the iPhone cannot do or at least not as well as an android phone. For example, the notification experience on android just kills the iPhone. There are compromises you have to make with each platform, it just depends what features are most important to you. I just got tired of the inconsistent experience. I do miss the customization options. Once again, tradeoffs.

I will continue to monitor the new androids as they come out, but for now I have switched. One final thing I will say is if Apple had not offered large screen phones, I would not have even considered an iPhone.

I can relate to your experience in a lot of ways. I am loving my 6 plus except for the minor hiccups on iOS 9.1.

I actually prefer notifications on iOS over android. I love having the badges on my app icons and being able to customize each app's notification. I only have notification sounds turned on on text messages and phone calls. Everything else is notification shade and badges on the icons.

I used the Note 5 for 4 days and couldn't deal with the subpar battery life and the inability to communicate with my wife's iPhone. With us both having iPhones, it makes it easier to share pictures as well as purchased apps.

I used to mock iPhone users and think that Android was far superior. iOS certainly isn't perfect, but in my opinion it does most things well enough and some things better.

There are also certain iOS apps that will never be found on Android. Video editing is a very good example. iMovie just blows away any video editing app on android, either paid or free, all day long. And it's ad and subscription free. I searched and searched for a suitable replacement to iMovie and every one was either ad supported or would charge you for a monthly subscription.
