Note 5 vs iPhone 6s

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Are you talking about battery life or the phones overall?

Note in my house!
Just the battery life. I prefer the Note 5 over the 6 Plus by a considerable margin. I don't see a speed deficit or Android being more glitchy. And I don't think the iOS app store is much better if at all. The quality of the apps may lean a bit towards the Apple side but it is not significant IMO. Weather, calendar, social media, messaging apps are equally good IMO (though I think the Android weather apps are better.) Not to mention that apps are more expensive in iOS and NO returns! I do like how the iPhone wakes up your phone for banner notifications. I suppose there is a way to do that in android. But I got really bored of it and lack of widgets.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Few more things I've noticed, I love the fact that I can receive video and pictures in full quality on my iPhone. My wife would send me vid of my son and the video would be small and pixelatedon my note 5. Not sure if there was a setting to change this on the Note 5 but I hated that. And another issue I had with the Note 5 was group messaging which I did pretty often with a bunch of co workers. It would send messages to individuals instead of the group. Then sometimes it would tell me I have to download a message from someone in the group not sure why this would happen. So far on my iPhone this has not been an issue, it seems to handle group messaging very well.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Group messages were a problem for me on Android all before but they've been flawless since getting the 6P! Might have something to do with the fact that I actually deregistered my number from Apple this time when I switched as opposed to just simply turning off iMessage alone.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

Yes, deregister everything you can from apple. You will be much better off. I am close to jumping on either the PRIV, or 6p. Also the edge is nice too, but I am soooooo leery of touchwiz from previous phones that I am probably going to shy away from it.

Sending video is the beauty of imessage because it doesn't compress it. When an imessage user sends a non imessage user a video or an image it goes through MMS and the media is then compressed to make it a smaller file to send.

Could always have your wife send the videos through hangouts though.

This has been a struggle for many iPhone users who switch to Android. But there are workarounds, it's a matter of if you think it's worth it to use them.

I'm sure a lot of these comments are true but I'm not sure I can get past one thing that won't be changing any time soon - iOS for all its goodness is just plane boring to me. Obviously a lot of people don't care about this but I like to tinker and let's face it, there's a whole lot more to tinker with in Android. iOS pretty much is what it is. That said, whenever I stop needing to tinker, iPhone will probably be just the thing for me. I'm just not there yet

Why do you say this? I don't know, but there are many reasons why I don't want an iPhone over my Note 5.

LED light
Camera
Screen
Fast charging
Wireless charging
Heart rate monitor
s-pen
Private mode
multi-window
Gear VR
File manager
Background processing
Samsung Pay

How would you all compare the Android app store versus the Apple App Store? And what about Apple music versus Google Music?

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I don't use either Apple or Google Music, so I couldn't respond to that, but I always like the interface and the look of the Play Store instead of the App Store. It's probably true that apps come to iOS before the Google Play Store.

Can't stand the play store. They keep changing the ui/ux and it just gets worse.

Not a fan of Google music but I wouldn't say apple music is better lol. I use Spotify.

Really? I rather like the Play Store. It's a lot faster than the Apple App Store. And I don't mind that the look of it is updated every once in a while.

I find them both fast. I'd probably give the edge to ios though.

I find the play store to be more useful. By that I'm referring to those times when a factory reset is in order and the play store can send your apps right to your device after adding your Google account. Always loved that. Before getting the 6P I'd been on an iPhone since July 8th so I was all in with Apple music. Thankfully, it's also available on Android so I'm good there. Additionally, every app that I used on my iPhone is available for my 6P save for the Apple TV remote so I'm good there also. I just use my iPad Air 2 as my Apple TV remote now. Problem solved!

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I'm the same way, I went and bought an iPhone 6S on launch day, I returned it for note 5 too. I believe my problem was they had no iPhone 6S+ so therefore I wasn't happy with it. But here's how I see it and maybe you can decide if you have an iPad then stick with Android as your phone and vice versa if you have an android pad, then stick with iOS as your phone this way you can switch between the two

Agreed! I dread downloading new apps on my iPads, the app store is brutal. I find it to be slower and much less organized than the play store.

When I switch to iOS I hate using their App Store. I can't find anything. I definitely think the Play Store is set up better.

Re: Aggravated with iOS /Android back and forth

I think as far as some of the differences in the stores and ecosystem, it's what one gets used to using. When I switched to iOS a year and a half ago, it took some time to get used to going through iTunes and the App Store for everything. After a while, I learned to get used to it and have tolerated it. When I tried out the Note 5 for a few days before I switched back to iOS, I felt kind of lost on the play store. Things had changed in the year that I left. I will say it again, iMovie is basically the main reason I stayed on iOS. I searched and searched for a comparable video editor and there just isn't one that has all of the features and functionality of it. At least on a Windows pc you can use adobe premiere video editor and on a Mac you can use iMovie, Adobe or Final Cut Pro.
