I have a few questions (first time android user here)
  • is there a good place to find more clock and weather widgets
  • Is it ok to disable these verizon apps Caller Name ID, Cloud and VZ Protect
  • Is there a way to make the apps page (or is it drawer) always open to page 1.
  • How do i put a folder in the edge panel
  • Speaking of the edge panel is there a way to make it always open on the "Apps Edge" panel
  • Is there a way to remove the apps folder from the bottom menu.
  • Is there a good calendar app that shows the actual data on the icon (do not really like the layout of the stock one)

1. For the clock and weather widget I use Weather & Clock Widget, search that phrase in the google store and it'll come up. Here's a screen shot of what it looks like and if you tap on the weather icons it will launch the app where you can also add more locations.

4. To make folders on the edge panel activate the edge so it's visible, click on the gear icon in the bottom left corner, select the edit link below the column you want to edit (should be Apps edge). Then drag an app from the left column to the right, then drag another app from the left column and hold it over the first one you dragged over and release, this should create a folder and allow you to name it. For some reason the icons that are already in the edge section won't allow you to drop another app on them to create a folder, first you must press the red hyphen symbol, that will put it back in the left column. Then you can drag it back over to the right column and then drag another app over and drop it on top of it to create a folder. It's a little weird, not sure why they did it that way. When I first opened it up I just removed all of them from the right column and started fresh.

5. I don't believe there is a way to make the edge panel always visible, maybe someone else has found a way.

6. My Note 7 is from T-Mobile, I'm also running Nova Prime and if I press and hold on the apps drawer icon an option of edit and remove do come up. If you were to remove it though not sure how you could find it again.

7. For the calendar not really sure what you are getting at. For my calendar widget I use Pure Grid Calendar, it can use any one of your calendars that you use (gmail, facebook, samsung, ect.)

1. Google Play Store.
2. I would think so. T-Mobile only gives a short free trial of the Caller ID app. I'm sure Verizon is the same. I use Samsung cloud. If you use it, there's no real reason to have both. I'm not sure what VZ Protect is. Prolly some kind of anti-virus/malware thing. T-Mo includes Lookout (same thing). I disabled it right away.
3. Not that I know of.
4. I think you can download additional edge panels from Samsung's app store that will allow you to place folders. I'd try putting one in the Tasks Panel first though.
5. Mine always opens on the last open edge panel. Didn't find anything in settings to change that.
6. Not without using a 3rd party launcher.
7. Good question. I generally only use my calendar as birthday reminders. Meetings and other events I'm in the habit of keeping them in Keep for some reason.
My wife was asking me about setting the calendar up and what all to do with it.
I took her to the Best Buy Store to see the Samsung rep.
He showed her how to setup her calender and how to customize it and put entries in it.
And set it up for family birthdays and reminders.
Now my wife really understands the calendar like never before, andvwhst you can do with it.
Because the Samsung person made it easy.

I kinda halfway use it, but I switch phones pretty regularly that have different stock calendars. I also use iCal on myMBP. I should just switch to Google's calendar since its cross platform.

They set it up on her S6.
When I gave her my S7E
I did smart switch.
It transferred everything fine.

Anyone else having trouble with using their note 7 as a hotspot for tethering? I turn it on and i get the error "Unable to Connect Data connection not available"

Looks like you got answers to your questions but I'll add my 2 cents...

* is there a good place to find more clock and weather widgets - I second the recommendation for wookiee's recommendation for Weather and Clock Widget. What I love about it is you can also tap on the date and have it open your calendar, and the time you can set up to open your alarm clock. Within the widget settings you can choose what opens when you tap on those 2 components (so you don't have to use calendar and clock...you could use another weather app, etc.). What I don't like is that I can't choose what my weather source is beyond the 2 in the application itself. I'm not overly impressed with the reporting on either. However I have a folder with several weather apps in it so I can live with it. It's a nice "at a glance" just wish the glance was a bit more accurate. :) I absolutely LOVE being able to access my calendar and clock via the widget, though. I freed up a space on my home screen because now I don't have my calendar app there since I access it from the weather widget.

* Is it ok to disable these verizon apps Caller Name ID, Cloud and VZ Protect - I have VZW and I have all three of these disabled via the application settings menu, as well as NFL Mobile and VZ Navigator (note: VZ Protect is called Support and Protection on my menu). I also have Package Disabler Pro and in that I have DT Ignites disabled...and that's ALL I use it for.

You ever tell Google to wake me up every mornig atca certain time.
Lot easier than looking for something.

My screen brightness got turned down so I couldn't see the screen.
I saud o.k. Google turn the screen brightness up..it was turned up.

Just tried sending one and it went through. All i did was press share after I selected about 6 secs. of a video I took. I need to pay around with it some more. I didn't edit it I only took the first few secs. to share.

I use Google voice for almost everything.

I'm kinda excited to hear when nougat is gonna be released.
I think it might opennip some things for the Note 7.

Thanks you . I'm still using the plastic protector that came with the phone. Went through 3 protectors with the 1st note. I Wanted tempered glass, naturally if was horrible.
Bodyguardz Contour HD - it's plastic but it's made of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) film - pretty much the same thing as a plastic soda bottle. It stands up great to the sPen but does show fingerprints and smudges just like the stock glass does. I have read a lot of complaints about the edges not staying down on the curves and peeling up but have not had the problem. My case has a front frame and I'm not sure if that's holding them down or what... the original one lasted from August delivery day until 9?19 when I turned it in. The new one is the same way - I had my AT&T Store Screen Protector "Specialist" install them both for me - she's really good. It's $25.00 so it's up to you - do some research and don't trust me, because my case could be helping!

I use the Bodyguardz HD Contour screen protector. Does the job. As was stated above, it does show fingerprints. Like jimd1050, I had the young lady at AT&T put it on for me because I knew that I'd screw it up! LOL! She is the resident expert at this AT&T store.

That's what I'll try. I bought clear coat, a protector said to be pretty good that I heard about on aUTbe channel. But didn't want to use it unless I couldn't find something else that a few people agreed upon as being good first . Didn't want to go through another protector and change it after a few days. Bodyguardz contour HD. Thanks!

What theme is this? I like the way the folders are 3d plates

I have noticed that the cell reception on the Note is not as good as what i had on my iPhone. Are there any tweaks to boost this on the note?

Not only is it worse than my iPhone, it's worse than my unlocked $250 Nextbit Robin. I don't understand how a phone this expensive can't get a decent LTE signal in my area when other phones do. My loaner S7 Edge couldn't either. That's my biggest drawback to the Note (seems to be more of a Samsung issue in general). And we all know that poor signal is one of if not the worst offenders of bad battery life.

So i guess no hidden tweaks :(
