Note 8 always on screen

setting - display - at the bottom always on display - content to show - Clock or information . No homebutton then.
I never get notification like others have said - no Layout under the Alway on display section to choose?

I had to activate a lock screen before I could get notifications on the AOD :(
The notifications setting on AOD wasn't an option till I activated a lock screen.

Thank you!!

That is why I don't see it, I don't use a lock screen. Thanks

I don't use lock screens normally either; however 'twas worth having allll the notifications on my AOD to activate a lock screen---using a swipe to access phone---although it's EXTREMELY annoying

for the dim/brightness of the AOD, i think it is related to your screen brightness. If you have Auto Brightness on the main screen then your AOD will adjust itself to the ambient conditions. If you turn auto brightness off and then slide the brightness on your main screen all the way up this should result in a consistently brighter AOD screen.

I can't keep a photograph on my AOD because it dims so dark I can't even see it. This includes a photo from my phone Gallery as well as a stock photo from Samsung. I don't use "auto" brightness.

The four icons under my AOD change and different icons are displayed depending on what the phone is attempting to notify you about. Example, currently one is for GMAIL, one is for FACEBOOK, one is for BIXBY, and the last is for a reminder. Also note that the order of the icons will change, I'm assuming that this is based on the most recent change in the notifications.

I have NOT found a way to enlarge the calendar or the items displayed on the screen. If this is possible then either Samsung or Google has it well hidden.

Personally I'd like to see several very short how-to videos. So much of the function is NOT obvious to a non-knowledgeable/new user.

My AOD has started going blank since yesterday. At first it was just happening when I had the phone in my pocket or my purse, but now it goes out after about 15 minutes and I can't figure out why. Anyone else experience this?

Regarding dimness, what I have noticed is if your phone is in a darkened room the display gets very dim. Move it into a lighter environment and watch it get much brighter. It is night here now and my room is darker except for a large screen tv and my computer right beside me..... my phone is sitting beside me on the couch face up..... AOD is very dim... if I lift the phone and face the screen to my computer screen... it quickly gets much brighter.

I have seen it go dim and get brighter, but right now it turns off completely and I have to press the power button or call up Bixby to wake up the phone

does the AOD turn off (to save battery) when shoved in a dark holster case, or not ?

Mine pulses up in brightness every minute, right at the switch from one minute to the next. I'm using the analog clock dial display, and every time the second hand passes the 12 o clock point, the AOD brightens for a moment.

On the one hand, this is kind of neat, but on the other hand, it catches my attention when I see it out of the corner of my eye, so it can be distracting.

I need to experiment to see exactly how it adjusts to ambient light, but it does. Also, it does turn completely off at times. I know it is supposed to shut off when you set the phone face-down, but sometimes it shuts down when laying face-up.

So I think I need to learn more about exactly how it all works. But overall, I do enjoy the AOD.
