Note 8 Battery Capacity. Setting Up Right Expectations!

Re: I think it will have a 4000 battery

Totally impossible to be same size as S8+ and has 4000mAH battery. Unless they suddenly have a new battery technology

Re: I think it will have a 4000 battery

Not gonna happen. I applaud the wishful thinking. I remember we were saying similar things last year about the Note 7 leaks.

Re: I think it will have a 4000 battery

I don't see why they would do it. Last year the GS7 Edge had a 3,600 mAh battery and the Note 7 had a 3,500mAh battery. They need room for the S-Pen while keeping the design they want. A smaller battery seem like the reasonable trend for the Note 8.

Re: I think it will have a 4000 battery

The 3300 mah "leak " might be legit. Thin bezel and device probably means no space for the pen unless battery is smaller.

8+ has 3500, but no pen to fit in.

And why can't they just make it a tiny bit thicker and give a good battery?

To simply make it thicker requires an entire redesign of the internals, and everyone complained about thick heavy phones until everyone began the race for a thinner device.

I also find it odd that these batteries are considered small today, early smartphones had below 2000mah batteries. I feel the rumored 3300mah is large and will easily last me a full work day.

They could have designed it however they wanted.
What was the screen size of those early smartphones?

Re: I think it will have a 4000 battery

I don't see a 4k happening.

Re: I think it will have a 4000 battery

The 8+ lasts me and consider myself a power user. Love the device overall, but the one flaw IMO is the curves. Wish were flat or 50% less curve.

Re: I think it will have a 4000 battery

But 3300 won't last the day..? For a power user.

A 4k one wouldn't either... Depending on what the power user does.

Any true power user will have extra charging cords/car chargers/battery packs if they truly are a power user since they would never just rely on one sole battery (no matter the size) within the phone.

3300 is more than fine for all day use for most users. The ones that are anomalies are probably smart enough to figure out how to charge their phone wile driving or while sitting at work, etc.

3300 it will probably be on par with the S8 with 3000 which in reviews people said solid days use and have to plug at bedtime... just won't be as good as S8+ which could probably get you through a day and into morning.

With that being said, at this price level and performance level, I'd want a phone that goes a full day, can still give enough to make it to through the morning.

It's strange that bigger batteries are going into mid range phones and they don't seem much fatter

Marketing in general thinks thin is key to consumer demand. Battery tech though has not changed in years (physics is a beeuuch). So to add all the tech stuff and keep same thin design- smaller batteries.

I disagree that thin is key, but a lot of consumers appear to prefer aesthetics over battery life.

Charger at work, at home and in the car. That is the definition of a power user lol

Even folks here prefer the same. Read the comments in the camera hump thread. We say we're different, but push come to shove, we're not.
