Anyone fall victim to the battery issue, where if you let the battery die all the way, it wont charge anymore. It finally happend to me on a 3 month old phone. Verizon wont replace with a new phone. they want to give a certified preowned one, and Samsung is worthless, they want me to be without a phone for 9-11 days while they fix it.

Unfortunately, aside from being in the warranty terms that you agreed to, receiving a refurbished phone is standard for the industry. I get that it sucks but unfortunately that is just the way it is.

Also, just so you know, Verizon went above and beyond what they are both legally required to do and also beyond what the warranty terms state. I realize that it isn't enough for everyone, but again.... This is an industry standard. If you want a cell phone then you will have to accept the terms of warranty.

I've received 4-5 refurbs over my cell phone life time, and I have never had a problem with them, even for resale. They are supposed to be, and were, like brand new.

That's standard too. If you try to charge it, it could judt explode. That's how lithium batteries are. (And you couldn't blame Verizon if your house went up in flames.)

You're not supposed to allow the battery to drop below 40% if you want it to last - and with phones being built so that you can't just pop the back cover off and stick in a new $9 battery, it's more important than ever to take good care of them. Once you're out of warranty, if you still have the phone and the batery goes, you pay to have it replaced. (The last Samsung price I heard was $60 plus you pay to ship it to them), but that was a while ago, so it could be more now. And you still get back your old used phone. At least this time you're getting a refurbished one.)

This is definitely not standard. My phone battery dies all the time and charges up perfectly fine every time. Also there's no reason to not let your phone go below 40% charge. That was stated in another thread here and was quickly debunked.

People always come in with battery % claims and statements about not discharging below a certain level. That may have been true back in 2012 or 2013, but nowadays most batteries are "smart" and charge on cycles.

Ive had nothing but Galaxy phones since day one, and have never had or heard of this issue. I would never let me phone just die, but I was in a boring meeting all day, and had no way to charge. $1000 phone should fail after 3 months of use.

I tend to let my phone ' die ' periodically, and then give it a full charge over night..have already done so with the note 8 and kept my original battery in my note 3 for 4yrs and seem to only charge phone every other day..
Usually only plug charger in when it gets under 5%..

Don't let the battery die and bring along an external battery pack. I use a quick charge Anker 10500+, small, fast, light and ready to charge.

just wanted to amend my post, have only let my note 8 die once thus far..as have only had it since october..
