Note 8 capabilities question

not that I know of. would be a nice option. I'm getting a ton of spam calls from FL from cell numbers and I know no one has my phone number except by the equifax hack.

Me too and there using my phone number prefix to call. I just knew the Note 8 would have a block feature since its such an advanced phone.

you know about the regular block feature, right? by prefix would be really nice, though. I used to live there, but I don't give out my cell number to anyone but clients. haven't had one there in five years and everyone knows how to reach me other ways if they need me. really a pita to keep blocking and blocking thanks to equifax's ineptitude.

you might be able to get your carrier / provider to do that for you, same as you can set certain permissions on your phone, they should be able to block certain countries on your request, it might need a a written request with your signature so they can cover themselves that you didn't miss a call from your favourite Nigerian prince making you a millionaire but worth asking them

Many of the telemarketers set their calling number to something in the same exchange so you'll think it's a neighbor and pick up.

In those cases I'd like to block the whole prefix EXCEPT for a few numbers.

I set mine to block if not a known contact. Those 6 digit numbers? Never once left a message.

Complaints of robo calls have skyrocketed. Worse are the newer variety that don't ring, no ID to block, go straight to voicemail.

I'm going to try an app. Looking online I see "calls black list" seems to be a favorite. If anyone finds an app that works please post a link.

Wow, I'm amazed whatever country you're all in doesn't have spam calls legislated already.

Here in Australia, we've had legislation in place for maybe 6 years or more re anyone on the 'do not disturb' list can't be contacted by advertisers unless it's charity, government information contractors and one or more other categories.

Both my home and mobile numbers are on the no go list.

Should an advertiser contact you they get fined. And it's easily provable in this day and age, cos you tape it, lol.

we do have that and I have all our phones on the lists. they call anyway. they don't bother looking at the lists at all. these are scammers, not legitimate businesses.

You can use the phone's Do Not Disturb mode to block calls from everyone who's not on your contacts list.

I personally love the calls from the IRS or some variation thereon saying a criminal indictment is to be filed.

The phone companies are complicit promoting packages that encourage scamsters to buy local area codes for their mischief.

I've tracked alot back to the Caribbean.
