Note 8 for college student?

I use the iPad mini and a bluetooth keyboard. I sync my notes with Microsoft OneNote. I looked at the Note 8 and Note 10.1. I have the Note 2 and didn't care for the writing part. I can type a lot faster than I can write, so I do not see the practicality of Note line for actual note taking in class. I chose the ipad mini because I think the productivity apps are superior. The Microsoft RT is a good contender as well, but it does not have very many games or a wide selection of apps. Also I am not a fan boy, my daily driver phone is a GS4. The iPad mini is the only Apple product I own.

you can use microsoft onenote and sync it up with the note 8 also.....and a bluetooth keyboard if you want.

i have the note 8 and also a transformer prime with keyboard. I thought having the keyboard option would be great, but in reality if a keyboard is that important get a laptop. I have the lenovo yoga which i love. but if you want something functional, portable, with the best stylus on the market the note 8 hits the sweet spot. the transformer was just a little to big and unwieldy.

For those that have used Microsoft OneNote on their Galaxy Note, if I buy the 10.1, I will be using it for college and will be doing a lot of complicated math and diagrams. Statistics major and engineering minor. Will the OneNote be able to translate ink to text?

No. That is a function of the Samsung keyboard, not One Note.

wow! that is very detailed! im suprised how much can fit on a small 8 in screen! definitely getting this for note taking..

I primarily use Moon Reader, though there are bunches that work well. It is used on both my Note 8 and 10.1-14.
