#8 got it right.
Samsung wanted to make S and Note versions in parity by advancing the Note version to 7 skipping 6. By the same kind of reasoning, why not have a letter prefix instead of letter for some while name for others. Thus S series for "regular" touch, N same as S but with pen, and X for the upcoming foldables.

The Phoenix is a pretty cool idea. The idea of immortality and rising from the ashes fits.
Not sure what a good replacement name should be. Perhaps Hephaestus, if we are sticking with Greek mythology?

I predicted in the 1st threads-About this battery explosion that Samsung
will Ended up scrapping the Note7 and it did. My sense is they may
transfer the S-pen and other features to the s7Edge
Try to keep up different models is Not useful. iOS succeed 'cause
concentrate only in iPhone. Anyway let's Stay Tuned to
latest News on this SAM's event..Read you soon

Talked with a Bug wheel today with Samsung.
Asked if they are coming out with something to replace the note 7 this year.
He said the fall of 2017 .
Next spring the St will be released.

What about instead of Note 8, "S Pro". With the S pen being marketed as the professional factor, especially for business/student use.

And how's that different from any other year? Oo The only thing that makes more sense now are the rumors that the S8 will get pushed to an earlier release date, but that's about it.

Sooo.. you've confirmed that they'll release an updated version of the Note line during the same timeframes they've always released previously? Not really surprising... I'd be impressed if they released it side by side with the S8.
Did he say if they were rebranding the line?

Typos aside in the OP, whoever this Samsung person is, they're clearly giving out generic answers that anyone could surmise from past releases. I wonder if the same design team works on both devices. If so, I can see the next "Note" not coming out until August. I'm hoping for an earlier release, though. There's no way it will be fall before this is released, though. They need to really differentiate between their two lines of phones going forward. Start with a 6" display and top tier specs, the way they used to do it up until the Note 4.
