Note 8 in 2017

Re: Next Note maybe fall 2017

I would think they'd release the next note at the same time as the s8, and just call it the s8 pro or something.

They are supposed to drop the "X" series next year as well, and I would think they wouldn't want the "note" stealing any thunder from the "X"

Re: Next Note maybe fall 2017

A lot of people think the Note brand is finished. I do not necessarily agree. Samsung messed up big time. It lost a ton of money. It lost customers. It inconvenienced many but that Note 7 was, pardon the pun, BOMB!!

If Sammy can put out a phone just like the N7, with even better features and make sure it does not turn into flames, I think it can name it Note 8 and succeed. Samsung may decide to change the name, but I personally hope it does not.

I disagree.....
The media will eat the next phone named NOTE alive.... All archived video and headlines from the N7 will be resurrected... The microscope will be on and waiting for the first fire. Any other (brand) phone that catches fire during this/that time will be in the news as a possible Note explosion
A renamed (rebranded) note has a much better chance. The Note has none..

VoiceStream was the worst cellphone carrier around. Even when they turned things around, nobody would fool with them. A simple name change to T-Mobile fixed it and now look how well they're doing.

As long as it is Notish, I will be happy :)

Im sure the only thing that will change is the name...
We as loyal fans will more than likely still refer to as a note, in our discussions.

And I'll be happy too, when the next one arrives, without issues of course.... Been waiting to upgrade since 2013

The only thing they need to do is fix that flaw with a redesign on the inside. It was perfect in every way except the catching fire.

I believe, if I recall correctly, voicestream was bought out by Tmobile. It wasn't just a name change.

The Note brand name is Finished! If they do released another phone next year with a S-Pen it will not be called Note...

I'm so unbelievably sick and tired of these types of posts. You don't know anything more than anyone else. Enough with the dramatic guessing to try and feel informed.

While the Note7 "curved" display was something I grew to like, the next Note definitely needs to go back to being a flat display in order to differentiate itself from the 7.

I was thinking it should be a flip phone to differentiate it. Might as well go ALL the way back.

I think that the Note name just left an nasty taste on people's mouths. It is burned in to people's memory (No pun intended!) No plane, train or bus. I know someone with an Note 4 that was stopped at the Airport, because of the Note name they stopped him to check his phone. Theybasked him to remove his battery during the flight. They would have to change the name for peace of mind for others.

I think the X series might start off for a niche market like the Note series started. As long as there is a month or two between that and the "Note" release, I don't see them losing many sales.
I wouldn't call it the pro unless it had updated specs over the S series.

I was thinking it should be a flip phone to differentiate it. Might as well go ALL the way back.
That's pretty much the X series. Then, it would be too similar to that and no s-pen would fit.

I think that this is the most likely scenario in my "opinion" as well. They can continue the 8 series with some other identifier. The Galaxy name in itself has taking a big hit as well. I think SNL even referred to the Note7 as the Galaxy 7.
I don't see them ditching the Galaxy name, though. Way too much invested. In most people's minds, there's iPhone and Galaxy now.

Re: Next Note maybe fall 2017

I'd probably go S8 (5.5"), and S8p (5.7" + pen). Make them both with mostly similar specs and the kind of edge screen the N7 has. Maybe bump up RAM and base storage and a few other tweaks on the p edition. That's it. Done. Want a pen and/or a few bumped up goodies? - go with the 'p' edition - otherwise, straight S8.

That is pretty sad.

Re: Next Note maybe fall 2017

Funny the Fruity Co. were advertising their I7 on Facebook. I was laughing at the comments. One comment that received at lot of likes was "I would rather have my exploding Note 7. No, thank you!".
What I'm saying is, there's a lot of Note series followers or fans (like me) out there. I don't think it will be discontinued. Right now I'm having trouble looking for a Note 5 as stores are out of them due to people returning their Note 7s.
Of course there's some that bought the Note 7 because of impulse, or it's THE phone to have for the moment, and this will be the same people that can easily jump ship to another brand or another model and a handful might come to the conclusion that the series is forever doomed.
Sure, the media is all over it right now. So as with other products/brands in the past. I bet they are eager right now and can't wait on what Note 8 will have to offer and if it will have some impressive specs, they will be all over it too.
We just don't know. Are they going to re brand it? Maybe. But I hope not.
I wouldn't be surprised if they unveil Note 8 side by side with S8 in Barcelona this February.

Id love to have a Note 8 released early 2017 with s8 and plz keep the curved glass!

Dam I hope it's not a flip phone! Note s8 thanks

I believe the Note line is dead but could this be the future of the Note?

I think the Note line is dead. However, I think it will survive as a part of the "S" line of phones. In fact, I think that when the S8 comes out there will be the S8 with the flat screen and an S8 Edge with a curved screen and a stylus. It will be the Note resurrected as a part of the S line. They may call it the S8 Stylus or the S8 Note or something similar.

However, it may be too soon to see this in the S8 line and my slip into the S9 line but I think this is the way the Note will transform in the future.

What are your thoughts?

Re: I believe the Note line is dead but could this be the future of the Note?

My thought is that they should try to find a way to make the stylus an option for ALL their high end phones. Some sort of case or clip on option. This way ANY Samsung user who wanted could get the S Pen. I often thought it wasn't really needed on the Note either, BUT that is just my taste. I KNOW some love it. I bought my Notes (the 2 and the 4) because of the size and feature set, I hardly EVER used the pen!

Re: I believe the Note line is dead but could this be the future of the Note?

I need the pen. For some reason (that I certainly can't fathom) my fingers and touch screens don't play well together. But the Samsung Note screens and using the stylus allows me to get around that.
Don't know exactly which one I'll get next but I'll miss the pen until I see a suitable replacement for my Note3.
