Note 8 Long-term Speed

Nope. Both mine and my husband's note8 runs smooth as butter and fast as the road runner...beep beep lol

I think I may have responded to this thread a few months ago, but here we are at the end of May and my Note 8 runs absolutely flawlessly. No lag, stutter or any other issues. This phone is right at the top with the best phones I've ever had. I honestly don't know if I will go to the Note 9 or not at this point. There will have to be something that really gets my attention.

It's not lag that's the issue. It's the battery drain after oreo that is an issue.

I have not had that issue. Battery life seems to be about the same. No better or worse. I get through the day without plugging in if I need to.

Not to hijack the thread, but can anyone explain why early Samsung phones suffered from increased lag/slowdown over time?

TouchWiz is a monster hog. When you first get it it has tons of cool features but after awhile it gets slower and slower, almost like it has sludge built up. The only solution was to fdr, then after a couple of months it came back. LGs were very bad as well. How Android was built did not help but the Nexus and Google play editions we generally way better, as were custom roms. I noticed that it wasn't until N that Samsung really stepped it up and slowdowns were not an issue. Android got far better a TW became Samsung Experience.

I have an old note 10.1 and an 8 tablet, both never made it past 4.1.2 and feel like it

This is the 1st android phone I've had that hasn't really given me any issues. The other notes were very good also but no where near as good as this phone.

I got my Note 8 pretty close to day 1. With each update I think I've seen that something has become slower. The "phone" app is slower to actually show the dialer. The camera app is definitely slower to appear. Face recognition is definitely slower to get into the secure folder. And maybe the Samsung keyboard is more troublesome. The thing with the keyboard is that I disable all the assisted stuff and just do all of my own punctuation and spacing. What happens is while typing I press "period, space, Uppercase" And as soon as I press uppercase, it goes immediately back to lowercase before I can type the letter so I get a lowercase letter at the beginning of a sentence instead of the uppercase. This problem has been this way forever with Samsung phones and also with some other keyboards. When I first got the Note 8 though, this wasn't a problem. But it is now.

Of course Bixby is super duper slow to respond, but it was so slow right from day 1 that I had no intention of ever using it. I still gave it a shot but it sucked so bad in every way that I just gave up on it. But when I have a look at it now, I'm not sure if it's even slower than before or if that's how it always was.

Also, holding the button on the stylus and double tapping on the screen pops up a fresh not to write something. The note pops up, but the interface now takes time to populate. The Note 8 is most certainly getting slower for me. The more I think about it, the more I remember. Swiping over towards the Bixby window is typically laggy too. I swipe. I wait maybe 1 or 2 seconds before it responds whatsoever. Then it jerks a little before it gets over there.

I didn't see any performance issues on my note. Got it on day one. I did one full reset after I got oreo as i do FC when there is a major release. Working like a champ. And by the way, I do enjoy nested commands on Bixby.

I completely agree. I’ve enjoyed all my Notes and a few other Galaxy phones, but the Note 8 has been the best performer after a year of use.

Best phone I've ever used! Display still crisp and clear, processor is extremely fast, never had to do a single reset, all the apps are running well, six hours SOT, reception is clear with no static or interference, wifi and 4G LTE speeds exceptional. Battery still holding it's own, quick charge is excellent with Factory and Anker products. This phone will wind up costing me only $265.00 when all is said and done. That's a great buy for a phone with the quality of the Note 8.

The only real issue I have had with any consistency is with blue tooth streaming. Every so often, the podcast/music will glitch as if out of sync. Doesn't matter if it is downloaded or streaming on line. Once in a while I will get a delayed response to touch screen input. Both I can live with if necessary but would rather not.

My Exynos Note8 has been amazing :D

Fast, fluid and always responsive. Very happy with this beast.

I've had the note 8 since a few days before it's official launch (Sprint Preorder) and no slow downs or lag. However, I do notice more refreshes of apps instead of them being held in memory. Also after the Oreo update the battery life instantly dropped. Idk what happened but it's a big difference then what it was before.

Had my Note8 since launch week and I don't experience any slowdowns yet. Runs very well.
