Note 8 or S9+

Keep in mind the S9 Plus is about as fat and awkward as the Note 8. Width isn't a big deal but the phones are inordinately thick. The S8 Plus was not quite as bulky and cumbersome.

I calculated the volume of each phone, and here's how they rank (in cubic millimeters):

NOTE8 - 104533
S9 PLUS - 99176.13
S8 PLUS - 94829.13
S9 - 86249.415
S8- 81120.72

Can you expand on the freezing issue. My s7 edge would lock up when the phone went into deep sleep. Is this what you mean? If so I worry this is a Samsung thing rather than an s7 edge or note 8 thing.

I have a Note8 and will be "upgrading" (less RAM) to the regular S9. My Note8 is one of the units being plagued with freezing issues while on standby. Though recent updates have made them less frequent.

I've been using a Nokia 8, and while I've thoroughly enjoyed it, and even prefer it to Samsung devices in many respects, the camera isn't quite up to snuff. It has, however, made me realize how much I miss devices in that size range after I had preferred phablets for a while. Just too bad Samsung will be skimping on the RAM compared to the S9+.

Only question at this point is which color S9 I'll be getting. No compelling options compared to the polished copper Nokia 8. Might just go with black, might go with coral blue. Depends how it looks in the photos and videos of the device that'll be out in about 12 hours from this post.

My S7 Edge doesn't do that, so I don't think it's a widespread issue.

S9 plus is the better phone, I think a lot of Note 8 users don't want to hear this. I'm using my upgrade tonight to the S9 plus but definitely going to upgrade again in August for the note 9

I have the Note 8 and checked out the S9+at the Tmobile store tonight. Nice phone - sound quality was nice and photos were great.

I have a Samsung Tab S3 so I may Jump to the S9+. May not - but unless they offer a zero down, probably not. I got the Note 8 zero down (J.O.D. special).

Here's a few pics of it.

I only keep phones for 6-12 months, at most. I’m still deciding but I think the Note 8 might be a better choice for me. It does more. I have iPhone Xes so the 9+’s camera and AR amojis don’t appeal to much to me.
