note 8 screen burn in

After rechecking my old S4 against a white background, I do see some burn it, it is like some black shadow of icons and notification bar. It does not block text so I guess it is ok after using 5 years. I have been using auto brightness.

Q1 Does a burn in disappear after changing front glass panel?

Q2 I am using a note 8 now. Would a burn in eventually be so serious that the text displayed on screen will be blocked by burn in and cannot be seen after using Note 8 for 5 years? I intend to use Note 8 for 5 years.

Most important to me is reading text. For preventing burn in in Note 8, I am intending to hide navigation bar, task bar, disable auto brightness and set below 50. It is a hassle to prevent burn in so if after 5 years and have slight burn in that does not block text I think I will not worry about this burn in thing and let it have some burn in.

well, I got it.
clear controls from rocket player and the navigation bar. faint but it's there.
auto dim and 60 second time out.
it's a refurb from a couple months ago that I got because my last had bad pixels.

I just noticed significant burn-in on my Note 8 , perhaps because I've been using my phone with brightness maxed out all day long for the last year and I'm also a power user as I work, play, multitask and just basically live on my phone from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed. I've attached a screenshot showing the ghost images... those with a sharp eye will spot them (hint: look on the upper right hand side of the pic). My screen also has a faint reddish tint on the bottom 2/3 (you might be able to notice the lines in the pic) and it's been very difficult to do some of my work that requires color pic editing.

The power button also got stuck recently, and so I can't turn the screen off anymore without fooling around pressing the button multiple times so I just let it stay on now.

Anyway I'm going to be getting the Note 9 soon and so all these problems will go away. I'd say my Note 8 did pretty well for the year I had it, it really did do very well for all i put it through...

What is auto dim?

You can't see ghosting in screen shots as this is a screen issue and a screen shot is just software.

I mentioned this earlier in the post above to another user and it was about to say the same thing here earlier but it's kind of strange that each post showing a screenshot his by user that only has one Post in this forum.

Auto brightness was on for over half of the 10 months.
Just a quick question...are you 100% sure this is a genuine Note8? Just asking to get a that out of the way since I've never seen burn in that bad, especially in the past few years.

Bought directly from Samsung unlocked.Has been to their Plano service center for boot loop problem exactly one month ago and going back for exactly the same problem and with screen burn issue today...should not have to deal with this bs on a 1k phone :( I have been a loyal note user since 2014.
Warranty is good till end November of this year.No unusual apps or rooting etc done to this phone.

Probably why the Note 9 doesn't max out as high as the Note 8 on auto-brightness.

Curious, besides auto-bright, did you set resolution at FHD+ or WQHD+?
Also what about Screen mode? Adaptive display??

For most of the time I've had this phone, I've had Auto Bright off and set to 50% with FHD+ resolution and been fine.

But for the past month and at the peak of Florida summer brightness and at times not bright enough outside, I decided to turn Auto Bright on and even set the res to WQHD+ for the heck of it. And the display with max out but I was impressed how super bright and readable the phone is outside and left it that way.

But I do feel at those settings you're just pushing the panel to the limit (and in this Florida sun it had to be pushing at max nits all the time) and wouldn't doubt cause fade or burn long term, so I disabled Auto Bright, put it back to 50% and FHD+ again. Still bright enough most of the time in the Fl sun.

Auto brightness was on for over half of the 10 months.

That is bad, worse than I had with my note 2.
For burn in to occur it needs to be a prolonged static image, not a few seconds, but quite a few minutes. That is why we usually see apps like maps, or the nav bar. However, it seems that samsung has had a bad run of screens, the woman who I just talked to at samsung premium care said that burn in is a common issue among warranty returns.
LG is now having issues with their TVs getting burn in at about 4,000 hours.

Only was to solve it, is to have the digitizer changed out. My carrier when I had the note 8 did it for free because it was under warranty but it isn't a warranted issue.

I have a weird slight burn in, right in the middle of my screen, it's about the size of AOD. I've had at least 10 Samsung phones with Amoled panels over the years and never had burn in until the note 8. I havn't changed my usage patterns so I'm wondering if it's AOD, is that possible?

Wow, now I see how lucky I am, have had several Samsung phones, never an issue with screen burn-in. Phew...

I use SWIFT keyboard with a grey-white-ish theme.

Never really gave it much thought. But I found out I do have it. Very slight at top and bottom but it's there. Does not bother me, but just wanted to let you know it does happen.

Anyone asking for a "Screenshot" shouldn't be commenting on this topic.

Warranty your device. @themusicmonkey is 100% correct on telling these "support agents" asking to hard reset to try to fix it that it's already been done.
