Note 8 Stock Samsung Email app stopped downloading attachments

I know there are other e-mail apps, and I use them on other devices.
But for my Note 8 I like the stock Samsung email app..... until now.
My phone and app are up to date. Email is version 5.0.05.9.

It will not allow me to download or preview any attachment. I get the scrolling blue horizontal line forever. Hitting "save" or the attachment icon (essentially this is preview) yields the same result. No download percentage, just that blue line.

I have:
1) cleared the email app cache
2) cleared the "download manager" data and cache

No joy.
I know I can use another email app. Prefer not to.
I also know I can delete and re-add my account. Of course I can do that but I have a lot of email that would need to re-load, and you should just not have to do that...but if I have to I will.

Any other fixes out there?

Thanks,

In the Email app, In the upper left (3 horizontal lines) - > settings (looks like a gear) - > click on the account, then scroll down until you find "limit retrieval size" and change it to "no limit."

Thanks for that..it is set for no limit already. It does this even if the attachment is a one page pdf.

Strange.

Hmmm...

Does this happen on data or WiFi, or both? There is a setting for limiting email size while on LTE data. That is the setting right below the first one I mentioned.

The setting is "limit retrieval size while roaming."

Make sure, "download only via WiFi" is turned off and "email sync period" is set to all time.

If you've already done that, then I don't know what is going on.

Personally, I prefer Microsoft Outlook. It allows me to add all of my email accounts easily. Much easier than the Samsung stock email app. The Samsung stock email app wouldn't let me add my company's email to it (it uses Google services). Outlook let me do it, not problem.

Thanks. It does it on wifi or cell.
I added an exchange server email account to the stock sansung app with no issue. If using outloo 360 you list need the address.

I'm stumped then. The only option would be to remove then re-add your account. Like you said it would be a pain in the butt re-download all of your emails.
