Android Central Question

Twice since I have had my Note8 (the most recent a few days ago) I can't connect to the cellular network. I get a circle with a slash through it where my bars would normally be. I have tried everything in order to get it to work. I DO get the bars when I reboot phone, for just a couple of seconds. I can still make calls over wifi but nothing cellular. And even more peculiar is the other day it happened as I was driving home and I was streaming music from Google Play Music at the time and it kept streaming for a few songs but I couldn't bring up any web pages or make any calls. The only solution I have found is to factory reset the phone. Now before the trolls chime in with "Well you fixed it! Why are you posting?" Factory resets are a pain in the ***, having to re-login to all of your apps, etc. Has anyone else had an issue like this or heard of it? Thanks for your input.

The SIM card contacts could be dirty, the SIM port could be intermittent or, as belodion suggested, the carrier could be having problems, or your account may not be provisioned properly (both problems they'd have to fix).

Thanks for the suggestions. The first time it happened I called carrier and they said everything looked fine on their end. Also if it works after a factory reset how could it be the issues you desribed?
