September security patch protection against Blueborne is essential. All I care about. Google likely just sent it to Samsung who will fiddle then send it to Verizon to diddle. God knows when we'll get it. In the meantime my Android watch gathers dust

The most reliable source of information about Android vulnerabilities is Google's official Android Security Bulletin:I believe, though I could be wrong, that various tech sites said that patch was in the August security update, the one I got on Verizon yesterday. Anybody know for sure?
So how are you liking it ?I just went to T-Mobile and got a Note 8. First thing upon turning it on was this new update. I'm transferring everything over using SmartSwitch so once that is done, I'll update my phone.
Do you feel lucky? So this means I shouldn't use my favorite toy my S3 Frontier watch until BT is patched?
Not that muchDo you feel lucky?

Others' recaps can get it wrong. Be especially suspicious if an article doesn't even link to the official bulletin, in which case it may just be trying to paraphrase someone else's paraphrase.
The Blueborne vulnerability corresponds to CVE-2017-0781, CVE-2017-0782, CVE-2017-0783, CVE-2017-0785 in the September security patch.
Google credits Armis Labs for discovering the flaw. Here is Armis's summary of it:

BlueBorne can infect your phone any time you have Bluetooth on.What Bluetooth issue.
I'm keeping BT on too, and you're right that there's no known exploit in the wild yet. However, when there is, you won't have to "run into" the attacker in order to be in danger. The exploit will spread from one device to another, quickly saturating the population of unpatched phones.I doubt there's anyone out there actively trying to use this exploit, and if there is, the odds that you'll run into them are slim to none. I'm not worried about it. I will continue to keep Bluetooth on.
