Note 8 using WiFi not mobile data is painfully slow.

I have noticed that my note 8 using WiFi is horribly slow. Tested it several times using an iPhone 6, an HTC U11, and my Note 8. All 3 phones in the exact same location, same distance from my router running several speed tests 1 hour apart. Here are my results :
1) iPhone 6 average 87.7 mbs download speed
2) HTC U11 average 89.3 mbs download speed
3) Note 8 average 9.8 mbs download speed.
These 3 averages are all using WiFi not mobile data, side by side 3 tests one hour apart.
Does Samsung just have poor quality wifi antennas? Anyone notice this?

I'll do some testing tonight, I have a Note 8, V30 and iPhone 7 Plus. Right now I don't have the Note 8 in rotation, I'm just using the iPhone and V30 on the regular if you can believe that! lol That being said I do recall the Note 8 being fast, BUT I might be thinking it's cellular radio.

Hmmm.. That's strange. I use wifi at every opportunity and I haven't noticed a thing.. I'm as quick as I can be all the time.. Wifi or not. Where can I test this? Is download speed on my phone somewhere?

I'm downloading at 18mbs and uploading at 3mbs. That can't be right, can it? I'm on a 5g router, not 2.4.

Well it really depends on your Internet plan speed. IF you have the economy internet from Comcast, that sounds fine. IF on the other hand you have Gigabit internet, then something is wrong.

To be honest I would factory reset.

I have various devices and while I don't have a Note 8 I have had many Samsung phones and they all hit my WiFi speed at home (400-500 Mbps down/up on 5 Ghz).

Tried on mine. 84.5. Pretty much the same as other handsets in the house. Your findings definately look odd. If you do real world testing - like downloading the same file, do you see the same?

Same for me, wifi is consistent with all my other devices. Something I would look into further. Probably call Samsung since you have a 1 year factory warranty.

In my experience I was generally getting better numbers on my Note 8 and S8. Samsung usually has great radios. I will test my device tonight though. :)

Mine seems fine also. Same as everything else. Here's mine currently and this is while I have all four of my tv's scream videos on my Wi-Fi.

Thanks for all the replies. I found if I clear the cache the download speeds go back to normal. Still doesn't seem right that the cache effects my wifi so much. I use the optimize phone built in to the TouchWiz software like every day or so. I'll keep an eye on it but it's the only phone in my house acting like this. Also what are you people using for internet that your getting these crazy 200mb + download speeds. I'm using Comcast / Xfinity and getting between 50mb up to around 100 using the same app on all phones.

I haven't had to clear cache at all. In my case I have 100MBps up/down FIOS, which really means closer to 75-85MBps typically. My Note 8 gets consistent speeds with my wife's S8, my daughter's Moto X4, and my laptop. Actually quicker than my Surface Laptop.Screenshot_20180227-235435.jpg

Your Internet speed depends on what plan you have with your provider. Comcast has several plans, it sounds like you have one of the slower plans, BUT not the slowest, the "basic" is 25M down, 5M up, which my elderly parents have. Sounds like the folks here have one of the "blast" plans, those are 200M & 400M down. At the fastest Comcast also has a gigabit plan which is like 1000M down (and really you don't get that unless you have the latest equipment). I have the same 100M plan torback1 has, which I got from FIOS on special for 39 per month!

mine is working as expected, except when streaming Bluetooth from a WiFi source - then things seem to see to a crawl. used to have a similar issue with Bluetooth interference on my surface pro 2.

Best to check deep in your routers wifi settings, as previous linksys ea8500 (5Ghz network) was preset to cap at 25000 (25Mbps). Actually returned unit as faulty... Worked out cap issue myself after 10hours wasted with linksys helpdesk over several days.

My note 8 ion oolka Speedtest generally 400-500Mbps plus downstream. 200-300 outside the house. Upstream generally 70 to 100.
Broadband from Vodafone NZ, FibreX plan, 700-900down,100Mbps up.
