Aside from specs which phone is really more productivity tool. Which one is better for business ?

The one with stylus or the one with physical keyboard.

My opinion is the one with physical keyboard. It is just so much easier to take notes / write memos / type longer emails etc. With physical keyboard than with stylus.

Stylus in a phone seems unnecessary because it is just easier to type with virtual keyboard than take out stylus every time and use it for same task.

Stylus seems to be more suited for larger screens like Microsoft surface or Samsung tablet or apple iPad pro.

Samsung note screen which is enormous in size for a phone seems tiny compared to the 3 mentioned above.

All the task stylus can do KEYone can do faster with physical keyboard.

What do you think ?

did someone send out people to rep other phones on Sammy forums today... useless. we love our devices.

Just sold my KeyOne for almost as much as I bought it for. Great device, so great I didn't even mind the smaller screen, great camera. One isn't better than the other, it's really a preference.

Once, about 2 years ago, I had a couple of lawyers come in to work and they were all taking notes on a note- after that I had to have one.

But- I have always been a note taker, I still have little pieces of folded up tablet paper in my purse. No amount of keyboard is going to help that- but that's why we have a choice, because we are all built different.

So it is easier to take notes with stylus than physical keyboard ?

I am surprised because when you go to university class 90% of devices used are laptops not tablets. Isn't ?

Probably. When I was in nursing classes I had an ipad with a stylus. But now I type at a keyboard all day long because no one wants a handwritten million dollar quote.

My point is (and mine alone) some people like writing, some people like tapping, some people like typing. Saying one thing is better is a matter of opinion.

doesn't mean it's better. be sure to factor in carpal tunnel for all that that keyboarding. I have it bad and I am so thankful for the spen. it gives me relief. you're young. it'll come.

That would depend on your business and what methods of data entry and manipulation you are used to.

The one with stylus or the one with physical keyboard.

Many people are attracted to the Note series as a productivity tool because they already have past skill or experience at handwritten note taking.

My opinion is the one with physical keyboard. It is just so much easier to take notes / write memos / type longer emails etc. With physical keyboard than with a stylus.

I typed this reply on my computer to edit out the quoted comments, but I could have just as easily replied by writing out my thoughts in a quick note and posting the full reply at once. That is the beauty of having multiple input options.

Arguably, those things can be easier with a keyboard; but I find that taking short notes, making small edits in text, pdf, images, or using the S-Pen as a mouse-like selection tool extends the usefullness of the Note series beyond what a physical keyboard can provide. And I am pretty sure the Note 8 will work with a bluetooth keyboard if it was really necessary.

Stylus in a phone seems unnecessary because it is just easier to type with virtual keyboard than take out stylus every time and use it for same task.

(Assuming the phone is in standby mode with the screen off)
Pull SPen, write on screen, save.
vs
Tap home key or power button, log in with swipe, pattern, pin, facial recognition, Fingerprint or Iris scan, switch or open memo app, type memo, save.

Stylus seems to be more suited for larger screens like Microsoft surface or Samsung tablet or apple iPad pro.

Look up the history of the Palm Pilot or Newton Messagepad, or just the history of reporter or stenographer notepads to see where the popularity of a stylus with a small form factory device may still apply for many people.

Samsung note screen which is enormous in size for a phone seems tiny compared to the 3 mentioned above.

But is still just as useful, and in many ways that Samsung has promoted use of the S-Pen, more suited to how people transition from using a small device like a smart phone to providing content that can be consumed or further processed on larger devices.

All the task stylus can do KEYone can do faster with physical keyboard.

The Note can do physical keyboard, virutal keyboard (with many choices of type of keyboard, voice input, handwriting recognition, grafitti (shorthand handwriting code) and what ever other method someone can dream up.

I'm sure the KEYone can do some of those alternate methods of input too.

What do you think ?

I think, with all due respect, that you might not be familiar with what a Note device with the S-Pen can do, and what makes it more than just a device with stylus.

The note is more productive due to the speed of the keyone its very slow at times and can't always keep up with a fast pace like the note 8 can.

I have a keyone and love it. I had all the Samsung Galaxy phones up to the s7. But the batteries were horrible after a few months and I hate the virtual keyboards. But I might be forced to go back to a Sammy phone. My s7 was free with insights and I just got the email that I'll most likely be getting a free note 8. I can't pass up a free 900.00 phone. I'll use it for a year, then dump it on swappa.

The Note8 without a doubt.

The SPen makes life easier in many ways including allowing you to copy content that the OS usually cannot copy, the SPen allows you to grab ANY piece of content.

Being able to draw over images e.g. when briefing the creative team for me with the precision of the SPen is great, much easier than using your finger.

Being able to properly sign documents is a huge 1 with the SPen, in my Note4 it has come in handy thousands of times, and I have missed that in my S7 Edge.

The Note8's huge Display also allows for better document reading and SPen allows for more precise editing. You also get a larger view of emails, not having to scroll as much.

The larger display and more RAM in Note8 also means better and smoother multitasking.

The KEYone brings a keyboard, something we already have digitally in our phones. No matter what you want to do that keyboard is there and due to it the K1 has a puny display, reading and signing documents is harder, also the paltry RAM means multitasking is not as great.

The K1 would have been great if we were in 2010.

This all sounds great except for one thing and that is ...

Who would actually want to do that on a phone when you have devices like Microsoft Surface Pro with proper size screen which can do all those tasks 100 times better.

I mean you can say snapdragon 935 is great but then Intel i5 or even i3 blows it out of the water.

Editing any time of files is so much easier on surface pro. I do not see me ever wanting to do that on a phone.

But I use KEYone for what the phone is meant to be which is staying connected 24/7

I use it to run business 24/7 and keyboard makes it very fast , efficient and almost error free all the time.

I do not see s-pen ever be able to do it like I can so it with KEYone. And why would you even want to do it when it is easier to use virtual keyboard.

Everything in KEYone is made around the keyboard and that is why KEYone works so great.

I can launch any app faster than you on your beefy specs phone because I have 52 shortcuts and I run apps in no time where you need to look for it in the drawer etc. Etc .etc and that is only with 3gb of ram. (You can get 4 with special edition)

I typed it all on KEYone now....try to do it with s-pen now ...

Lol, I'd hate to carry a Surface Pro every single place I go 😂 this is not 2005 mate, I can happily do all that on my Note4 and soon my Note8, while sitting at an airport lounge, while communiting or while in bed without having lug a whole Surface Pro around.

I stay connected 24/7 with my Note 4, S7 Edge and soon Note8, so what is your point there? LOL

I will also use my Note8 to run a business while also using it for Work emails and on top of that thanks to its huge 6.3inch WQHD+ Display I'll also use it for entertainment, and thanks to the Dual OIS Cameras I'll shoot excellent pics and on top of all of that the 6GB RAM will let me do all the above plus a bit of gaming without a hitch.

The KEYone is a nice phone for Text, Email, Calls and Lite Web browsing and lite multimedia usage.

The Note8 is a full convergence device built for Productivity, Multimedia and Content Creation, its more like a mini computer in your pocket and the SPen works well as a mouse, thanks to its incredible precision. :)

Have you ever owned a Note?

Asking me to type using the SPen is like asking someone on a PC to type using the mouse, LOL. Mate, its evident you clearly don't understand what the SPen is for. Its a precision tool, it helps with grabbing content, manipulating content precisely as well as translating and note taking. It's uses are important to many of us.

Of course you can do all the things you mention on your phone but to say that it can be done as well as on Microsoft surface is just not possible. Simply because Microsoft surface is personal computer that runs programs not apps. Note 8 is limited to what is in the app store which can never be as good as on pc.

I am just saying that note 8 is very nice and innovative device but to do any serious work like on pc is just not possible and I do not think it ever will be. You cannot even connect it to monitor or a mouse or a keyboard. Nothing.

KEYone is made for very specific purpose to be the best on the road communication tool.

You can run business very effectively with it. You simply do not need a pen to do that.

How can you go over contracts, drawings with people on small screen like that. Some people will be ok with it but most will not. It is just too small.

Honestly I think this phone is way too overpriced and makes no sense. For same price I can net galaxy 8 and Samsung tablet with pen which is way better combination.

For serious , professional work this device does not cut it.

It is great for personal use but it blows for communication compares to KEYone.

Usually when you try to make device to do everything is just ends up average doing everything.

Yes, the Note8 can be connected to a Keyboard and Mouse, LOL, ever heard of Samsung DeX, it quite LITERALLY turns your Note8 to a PC.

You clearly have no idea of what you are talking about buddy, you just want to feel better about purchasing a lackluster device like the K1.

Me and MILLIONS of others are happily productive on our Notes with the SPen :)

What your KEYone can do, the Note8 can do better, its that simple. :)

Had a KeyOne but it was so slow at times. Scrolling on the phone wasn't as smooth and limited ram definitely affected multitasking. Also I need multiple languages and not having the ability to see what I was typing in Korean made it difficult to use the phone. Note 8 is a beast of a phone and the S Pen is so powerful. I love it for just about everything. Note taking, screen shot editing, signing documents, PDF annotation, and just using it as a stylus to keep my phone fingerprint free.

If they had a KeyOne with OLED screen and 6GB RAM and a top tier processor then I would consider it. But just for a minute.....

So -- is this thread done? It sounds like you got your answer and you believe your Key One is better :).

I actually use my spen on my virtual key board often. It helps with accuracy so your point is invalid.

I did not know that. It is pretty actually. But then again why would I want this over real pc or proper size tablet. Anyhow you are correct and I do admit I did not know Samsung has device like that.
