Note 8 will have FPS in back :(

Um, we're not talking about screen resolution between those phones. I'll just quote myself from another post.

Now I really didn't even have to use screen resolution in those devices, but I did so for the Note 4.

Now compare that to the difference between the GS6 and the Note 5 and then the GS7 and the Note 7. Granted, the Note 7 had the Iris Scanner...... Now compare the hardware differences between the Note 5 and the GS7, then compare the Note 7 to the GS8. Look at all the hardware changes, it's hard not to see it. I don't get how you don't see it.

I completely agree. Up to the Note 4 there was a clear difference between the S and Note lines. From that point on the Note line has basically just been a glorified S series device with a S Pen.

While I agree in part that smartphone tech has plateaued I also think Samsung has gotten lazy with the Note line just adding the S Pen and a few minor tweaks here and there thinking it's enough. That may be ok for the general consumer and the casual Note user but not for most of us original Note aficionados. Thus I think they have jumped the shark with the Note series. :(

Doesn't Samsung make iPhone displays? I have the s8 plus and honestly it's a disappointment. honestly so is my iPhone.
That's a good point. You wouldn't think they'll sell screens to Apple WITH fps embedded if their own device doesn't have it.
Y is your s8+ a disappointment? I don't have one, have s7 edge, holding off to see Note 8, but having played with s8 in shop they seem ok (except lame fps).

I'm on my second s8 plus signal seems to suck to the point they thought my 1st one had a rejected antenna, never mind I get the dreaded black screen playing games allot. It's a cool phone just compared to my s7 edge it's pretty buggy. At first every time I left WiFi and used sprint network is get the lte connection error is have to dial ##scrtn # and reregister on network every time just to use it luckily most of that seems resolved it just wasn't to me worth ditching the s7 edge to goto this. It has its pros and cons I guess

Samsung or whoever may supply the displays but the in glass fingerprint sensor is not made by Samsung.

i just want the Note 8 to be wider than my S8+

I think it will be. Simply because the Note has to be bigger than the S line, plus it would make the Spen easier to use on a wider screen.

I still think other than the Spen, the Note 8 will basically be an S8 Plus with an spen. I don't think there will be a huge difference to justify buying it if you just bought the S8 Plus.

After using it for awhile the finger print sensor doesn't bother me and it seems more accurate than my s7 Edge. Maybe having a thick case with thick camera cutout helps finding the sensor easier too when placing your hand on the phone.

Not good for a premium phone with a premium $$$. So sounds like your disappointments can all be fixed with software updates? It annoys me when manufacturers get the buying public to be their beta testers for them. Always a race to get the new products out there & make money, stuff if it's actually ready for general use yet, be it a new car or a new phone. Guess that's what we are willing to take so as to be first in with a new model. There's a moral to this story.

The thing is when I first got it only real issue was the signal thing battery life was super long no black screen but seems every little update I get another bug and battery life gets shorter but at least the lte error isn't as bad .In short yes I totally think most of the issues I hate can be fixed with software. Also noticed wireless charging sucks I see others have an issue with it too works good for a week or so then it craps out gets super slow no matter what wireless charger you use.when all my other galaxies from s5,s6,s7 edge note 5 none have the issues I'm having.as far as the fps I really don't care for it in the back either lol you get used to it after few days to the point I touch the camera on my other phone like an ***** some times to try and unlock it lmao.

Wow, that's a disappointing news :(

But I do not believe Samsung will be so stupid to place it at the same position as S8
Just have to wait n see. That news was about the same date as my earlier post #15 which was news of an embedded fps! Go figure. Some groups just like to get themselves on the front page but talk BS.

I'm on the fence on this phone but I know one thing, my Note 5 is still kicking arse!

Same here. I got the LG V20 after the note7 mess and I got bored with it and missed my Samsung so I'm on my note 5 til note 8 comes out. Loved that dang note7.

I would use the FPS if it were conveniently on the front and instead will use a four digit security code.

My concern about the Note 8 is the elongated size and increase of length, another quarter inch more than the S8+. This is a huge phone!

The Note 5 chassis would be ideal with increased display size, no bezels for the Note 8. I enjoy my Note 5 size... for me with ML hands, it's perfect! Frankly not looking to carry a mini LARGE NOTE DESIGN as a phone.

I'd take a good look at any new VZW phone with 6gb ram. 64gb is ok for storage but I'd love the extra ram. If no sd card I want 128gb storage.

This is the latest schematics. Dual led flash, dual speakers, rear capacitive FPS done correctly this time, in the middle lower down. Not too shabby. I'm not sure where the heart rate monitor is though.

A bit disappointing the embedded scanner isn't going to feature on this phone but at least it's placed correctly. Dang, apparently Apple has the embedded scanner figured out and ready to go. Oh well.

I can live with this. I couldn't live with the FPS on the S8.

A bit awkward for me as a potential buyer. I have the S5, Samsung's first fingerprint scanner phone. I would have really liked to have gotten Samsung's first phone with the new embedded scanner. I'll just have to look at the phone as a whole and make a final decision. But still, no complaints. As I said, the capacitive scanner is properly placed this time.

Ironically, I'll look at reviews of iPhone 8 with its embedded scanner to see how much I really desire that feature. If I just really want it, it'll be wait for S9.

Has anyone confirmed that the iPhone will have the embedded fingerprint scanner? I haven't heard this. Samsung stated that the Note8 wouldn't have it, so we know that much. Apple is still a question mark, I believe.

Also, can't anyone just release a "schematic" and say it's a leaked Note8 diagram? I want to see the Note8 in someone's hand before I start believing anything.

Most current leaks have pointed to under glass sensor being used as we get closer and closer. Latest leak image. What's really interesting me is along with the new sensor if the rumor of Apple Pencil support will happen.

New leaks give the best glimpse yet of iPhone 8

You just have to remember, what do you prefer? A fancy new embedded scanner that works at less than currently 100% or a capacitive scanner that works perfectly? It's a no brainer. Also, whose to say the Apple embedded scanner will work just as well as their regular scanner?

Maybe it works a little bit less reliably than the regular scanner but Apple think it's good enough. Whereas Samsung don't want to release it until it's as good as the capacitive scanner. Samsung have now 2 companies working on it. There must be a good reason for not releasing it yet.
