Note 9 cases

Got the Caseology cases from the previous sale and have to say I'm pretty disappointed. My first experience with Caseology and the worksmanship is shoddy. The Parallax, for example, looks good but once I started actually using the phone it became apparent how uncomfortable it is. There are sharp edges all around where the palm is when typing. Also, the cutout around the camera doesn't lie flat so I'm worried dust and dirt will get in and scratch the back. I have couple other cases on their way so hopefully they'll be better.

Now you know why they were $1.40 a crack.

I have the Legion for the Note 9 and that too seemed sharp around the edges.

I had the Legion for the s8 Plus and Note 8 and it didn't have the sharp edges and seemed finished better. The Note 9 one seemed cheap to me.

I had already ordered this case in Black...

...so I am carrying protected at the get go. The Black case turns the Blue phone in to a Black backed phone so I am happy for that. The sides of the case are clear. There is also a Clear version and a White version available.
The case although adding bulk doesn't feel/look bulky to me. The sides are a flexible but firm plastic and the back side, although also plastic is certainly very scratch resistant. (The product page misrepresents the case as being glass. It mimics the glass well but certainly isn't glass.) I tried scratching it with a round pebble and the surface wasn't effected at all.
I also DROPPED THE PHONE within the case on to a hardwood floor from a height of 30". That measurement is my hand holding the phone with my arm extended straight at my side. I dropped it once from that height on to the phone's corner and I dropped it once from that height on to it's side containing the jack inserts. There was NO EFFECT to the phone nor the case at all. No joke!

This case does attract fingerprints but also gives you that nice and shiny look for those who want that on the back side. It also doesn't reduce slippage from your hand more than the bare glass does. Right now my hands aren't super dry nor are they sweaty and the phone seems to grip the same with the case on or with it off. This is a satisfactory grip for me. I don't feel that the phone will slip away unexpectedly.
I have wet my hand with water and the grip only feels the slightest bit less on the case side and the glass screen side. I can't even say it's slippery.

Still looking for a transparent thin case with 2 way kickstand for portrait and landscape viewing.

I've been looking all over for a clear case with button cut outs (a lot of cases covering buttons with plastic buttons make it harder to press) and kickstand and found one on dhGate. Ordered last week and will post about it when I receive it.

I've seen many with a kickstand. My problem is I need a two-way kickstand. I usually look at my phone in portrait position. That one looks like it only displays in landscape mode.?

It's 2 way.

Ok. I have an Encased case that will stand vertically, but it's not a clear case
There is one clear one I know if but it is thick. I prefer a thin case so it fits in a holster. N9 too big for my pocket if I sit so I go with the dorky holster
Thin, transparent, vertical and horizontal kickstand. My holy grail of cases.

Ringke Fusion Clear has been my case since I brought my lavender purple N9 home.
+ clear (not at all hazy), allows the unique phone color to be appreciated
+ thin overall but still offers some lip (not too thin if you ask me, but not a bulky case)
+ pretty rigid (I like that)
+ buttons are nice and responsive, great click
+ textured Bixby button so I don't confuse with the volume rocker
+ slope to the camera (not an abrupt cutout)
+ good cutouts, not too small around headphone jack or charging port
+ easy to remove the s-pen
- fingerprint magnet, but I think all clear cases are (doesn't seem too bad with scratches but too soon to say, I keep it pretty sheltered right now)
- tiny dot matrix on back is noticeable in some light, but then it might be why there is no rainbow effect so I don't mind it
- slick due to hard plastic back (although the nubs on the corners help it from slipping off a table too easily, it's still more prone to my clumsy drops than something with grip)
- The biggest downside to me, is that where my pinky rests it gets uncomfortable. The hard plastic and cutout of the headphone jack make it a sharp feel (not jagged or like it would cut). Compared to my old Speck Presidio Grip, this is disappointing because my hand naturally holds this big phone that way. I will say it is better when my right hand holds the phone, but I generally use my left. Obviously depends how you hold your phone, not a deal breaker for everyone.

I am thinking maybe I'll shell out for the Presidio clear or Tech21 clear. Maybe with added price comes better comfort, maybe less slip? I would recommend the Ringke still, especially if your clear case isn't your every day case. There are deals to be had making it even cheaper so I can't say I regret my purchase at all.

My Ringke purple metallic wave came today. Disappointed in the color I don’t think it’s going to go with the purple Note 9. Looks like it’s probably going to go better with the blue note.
