Note 9 similar to Note 8?

Greggles update today. Phone might be nearly identical to the Note 8 except for stereo speakers and newer processor and no under the screen finger prints. Kinda of a bummer. If the phone surpasses 1k I might bite on the s9 plus if the price goes down on that at the time Note 9 launches.

I think if I had to bet months ago, I would have said nearly identical to the Note8. No big surprise. Since no in screen fingerprint sensor, no bigger battery now, either.
So...fingerprint scanner placement shifted, slightly faster processor and better camera. Sounds like about right. Since they started production so much earlier this year, it was kind of expected to be a minimal upgrade over the Note8.
I hope they have something up their sleeve for the software or S-pen upgrade.

I agree. Especially if it doesn't have a bigger batter this will be a big bummer. Is it possible the s9 plus will have a larger battery than the Note 9 simply because the spen takes up space?

I still don't quite understand why we can't have at least 4000 mAh battery. Can someone enlighten me?

The only reason I can think of is that they just don't want to add to the thickness and/or weight. There is no real reason at all that they can't do it - after all, they put a 4000 mAh battery in the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active!

I really don't mind extra thickness for a bigger battery. I think the note 8 is very thin.

I think they made little changes this year simply because most of the bigger changes will be coming next year with the 10th anniversary.

Meh. While I would love stereo speakers, I don't really care about the FPS, and at this point I doubt a newer/better processor would make all that much of a difference.

This might be the first time since the Note 3 that I keep a Note for more than a year (minus being force fed the N5 for a second year after having to part with my N7). Guess Samsung will be twisting my arm to save a little money.

Well if they want to compete with Huawei and Apple they better do better than just small upgrades, just look what happened with the iPhone X selling less than half of expected numbers and discontinued after a year

This bums me out. I was a note user until forced to give up my 7. I then got a Pixel XL which has turned it to be a very good phone. I didn't get the Note8 because it didn't seem like anything special. I also didn't go to the Pixel2, I was waiting on this Note9. Ugh! Now I find myself conflicted.
