Note 9 when displayed to projector/monitor displays terrible resolution

When I bought a usb-c to hdmi cable for displaying presentations in my galaxy note 9, the result being shown was a very, very low resolution. It was like unreadable. I tested it on projectors and other monitors, the result was still the same, a terrible resolution and does not use the whole monitor screen. Today i found out, when testing a powerpoint presentation, the result was still the same, but when the slide gets zoomed in, the slide gets clear. possible a setting issue. Can anyone please help me
