So we've got spewage all over this now.

Claims pre-orders are sold out and that the original pre-orders ship on 10/8.
-BUT- If I act right now, I can pre-order a backorder and it will ship on 10/10 and arrive by 10/12.

I wanna believe!

I'm in the NE and it shows back ordered for me as well. I did a pre-order in the store yesterday, checked my pre-order # that they sales rep did on her ipad and it say in process ship by 10/10. So for now I am ok.

I just went on Verizon and ordered the black Note 3 through the Edge program, I had a Verizon chat session going as well who asked for my order number once I was finished and he was able to process my order through, because it was showing Pending at first. he told me to check on Monday for my shipping number and that I should have it no later than Wednesday of this week. The white Note 3 did show on backorder though.

I just called my local VZW corporate store and asked when this phone would be in Stock in the store. Her response was that there was no in store date. I said so if I pre order online I'll get it sooner? And she said and I quote, "uh erm, uh, what did the site say when you checked?"

I just don't want to make a trip for nothing. I can't pre order because I'm using my current phone as some money down for it and can't be left without a phone. Why is Verizon the only one with no answers?!

In the past Verizon has always released phones in-store on the same day as pre-orders ship. It should not be that way. Pre-0rders should be rewarded with an earlier shipping date. I always had that with Sprint. It might be different this time. No one knows until the 10th.

Eh, not really. A preorder should just be to guarantee a unit upon release date. Sure, it's nice if you get a day or two early, but in reality it's a release date that should be wide across in-store and online orders. I do agree that the devices should be shipped early (as per the Amazon rule) to arrive on the release date, but not any earlier.

Hopefully everyone that preorders the device receives it on schedule - keep us posted everyone.

are ya kidding me.........so....this means if I preorder...... I face a back order...right? How do you all think this impacts going to a verizon store this week on Thursday and picking up the phone.......

Based only on what Verizon has done in the past, there should be units shipped to stores on launch date, however quantities may be limited. If it's important to you, I'd suggest going early and/or calling ahead first.

I'm aware that VerizonWireless.com uses regionalized servers for load balancing. Could just be seeing an inventory update underway.

My guess is that it's either that, or the status is simply different depending on what region of the country you are in; since I believe that determines where your order is shipped from. For example, they may be sold out in New England, but still have stock left in the pacific northwest.

Showing up backorder for me as well. Let's just hope this is in preparation to start shipping in the next day or two. :D

Could be. My guess that the inventories are setup to change status once a certain order threshold has been reached to prevent orders from being unable to be fulfilled. Personally, I'd rather be told a product will be back ordered prior to ordering than to be informed after the fact.

Based on this thread, it doesn't sound like anybody has any answers, just speculation. Also, rarely do the folks working at the corporate stores share the same enthusiasm we have for these devices...and while it's usually pretty easy to get a launch date quoted from one of them, rarely do have any inside info on inventory status or the number of units their store will be receiving or stuff like that. (Or maybe they do have access to that kind of info and just don't care...who knows?)

I agree, but you're right, Verizon does not usually work this way. On past occasions when I've preordered, however, I got my device 1 day after launch. To me, that's still better than having to physically go to the store.
