i'm coming from an iPhone 4S, and am considering switching to Android.
i'm debating whether i should get the galaxy note (i717 version) or the galaxy sii x (telus from canada).

which is a better phone for everyday use.
i'm looking more for camera/video quality, resolution screen quality, good speaker sound...

let me know, thanks!

Comes down to screen size really. I had both, AT&T S2 and I now have the international Galaxy Note. I loved both, but the Galaxy note is my favorite phone of ALL time! The 5.3 inch HD screen is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! The 4.3 inch on the S2 is very nice as well with a resolution of 480x800.

Speed: Both are very fast, very fast. I really can't say if one is really faster...1.2 dual core exynos vs 1.4 dual core exynos. One pushes a smaller screen, one pushes a lot more real estate. Speed I would say is a tie.

Battery:A BIG thing for most people. Both last ALL DAY no problem for me. I usually use average data. At home with just A LOT of texts, some browsing, games I normally have 70% after 10 hours or so. Both battery life is great on these devices. Tie

Price: Depends on how you look at it, GS2 will be cheaper, its an older phone, simple as that. $200(Might be less nowadays...haven't looked) vs $300 but those prices are on contract on AT&T. I paid full price for my Note...so 7 big ones...but def worth every penny in my eyes. Tie IMO.

Media: Same player, speakers are about the same, video is WAY better on the Note, hands down. Note is the clear winner.

Camera: Tie....same exact camera and sensors I am pretty sure. Just the CPU is the big difference(which really isn't much)

Texting: This is all based on your preferences. I like the Note texting a little better. Larger is better for me haha. I am a rapid texter. Tie

Updates: AT&T will always be late...normally really late. International versions get them first(which is a great plus for my note). Both will be seeing Ice Cream Sandwich which will be a great upgrade for both phones.

I hope this long explanation/breakdown somewhat helped you. Everyone has their own preferences.... For me, the Note is the winner for me...

Long as you don't wear tight jeans...the note fits in your pocket perfectly fine. They do mine, haha.

Congrats on your Note purchase and welcome to the family! I agree with jflexe99 for the most part. I would give Note the edge on battery life, and a little more props for camera quality. The video as he said is superb. Beats my SII hands down.

One thing not mentioned is the international Note is HSPA+ @21mbps with a Xynos processor vs US LTE @42mbps and a Qualcomm processor (both dual core 1.5mhz). The ATT version is quad band so it also has HSPA+ @21mbps 4G in addition to LTE.

The UK version is sporting an ARM cortex A9 processor at 1.4mhz Samsung Galaxy Note 5.3 inch | Android OS Smartphones | SAMSUNG UK - TECH SPECS

I have read reviews with speedtest results indicating that the unlocked HSPA+ is actually a tad faster than the LTE on ATT regardless of the specs. But not by much.

The size is a bane and a blessing. I am in love with the extra screen space and crystal clarity of the HD screen, but still can't come to 'grips' with the size (pardon the pun). I am always afraid I am going to drop it. I just can't find a comfortable position to hold it. It is unweildy with one hand, perfect for two. In my pocket, I am always afraid I will bend wrong or squat or something and flex it enough to break the screen...although it has stood up amazingly well despite my concern. It is most assuredly well built.

I am now at loggerheads. If T-Mobile doesn't get it my decision is easy. Sell this on ebay, and go merrily on my way with my SII. No way I am switching to Godawful ATT. If Verizon gets it do I switch? Not a big fan of CDMA but their network is solid despite the overpriced plans. If T-Mobile gets it do I sell this and get their version knowing the misgivings I have about the Note?

It's hard to give up the size and glory of the Note. The SII practically disappears in my pocket. The Note always reminds me it's there. I just don't know what I am going to do so for now, nothing. Wait and see what the market does and give the Note more time to makes its case with me.

I've just done exactly that...well almost...gone from a 3GS to a Note on UKO2

I still feel like I have a 32" tv in my pocket and the 3GS looks so cute and tiny. No latency or delay on the Uk 1.4ghz dc Arm processor so quite happy with that as the 3GS on 5.01 was dieing.
The camera is a huge leap I was amazed by the quality
