Note3 and Kit Kat

I think the Note3 will see 5.0 ... If not 4.4
It's a high end device with high end specs.
I can remember that the Note2 got a couple updates. It's getting 4.3 soon.

I thought the Note 2 started out with 4.1.2 and still has that.

Thank you. I was waiting on the Z30. BUT, the dated specs and boring OS10, bringing nothing spectacular to the table, I am feeling left behind the times. Time to look into Android....I will not stoop to the hipster crApple products though...

Apple iDevices have their place. I still think FaceTime is amongst the simplest and broadest video chat programs to use.

Some of my favorite apps haven't been updated to work on 4.3 yet. So I'm definitely not concerned as to when my device will get 4.4.

When Google introduced the Android update alliance in 2011 it was supposed to reduce fragmentation by carriers and manufacturers supporting software updates for 18 months. It's pretty sad that this was all just lip service and I'm not really sure who is to blame for that. It wouldn't surprise me if we didn't see 4.4 on this device at all before the Note 4 comes out. Its not just Samsung that does this. LG is terrible about support as well, but Why should they continue to provide software updates when they sell millions of their newest flagship phones at launch. We can point fingers at the manufacturers and carriers all we like, but if lack of support doesn't stop us from buying every version of a manufacturers flagship device then they will continue to keep putting "older" devices out to pasture.

So, I think 4.3 would be the last major update the Note 2 has any real chance of seeing. I hope 4.3 doesn't mess an otherwise great phone up.

Note 8.0

Not just the Note 2, but Galaxy S3, and S4 will see 4.3 very soon so that Samsung can sell those god awful watches Galaxy Gears.

My Note 2 still has 4.1.2 and as far as I know that's what it came with. The only OTA updates from Verzion where "Stabilize" updates not major OS changes. Mar 29 2013 was the last date code update.

I'm thinking at least 6 months out. You gotta have some time with 4.3 first.

I think it depends on when you received it. I got mine in November last year and I seem to think it came with 4.1.2...maybe earlier examples shipped with 4.1.1.

Oh, I'm sure that's true.. I was late to the GN2... still had almost a year left on my contract before I could dump my HTC rezound... Talk about a step up... it was definitely a good upgrade.

I loved the Rezound. That was one of the sexiest smartphones that I've owned.

Oh yeah! It was my first Android phone... A great device I still have it (not as phone, but as a night clock on my bed stand LOL). My only real complaint was since it never reach high popularity it became doomed never to get updated beyond ICS. I might some day Root/Rom it to something interesting.

I would have to disagree with that. They are usually dead last with us BlackBerry users. I am here gathering intel and looking to maybe updating myself to a Note 3 from a (AT&T) BB Torch 9860.

They are basically dead last with everyone but iphones. I was trying to be sarcastic on the internet again.

To sell those watches is probably the only reason those phones are getting updated.
