notification bar on lock screen now is clear

Is there way to turn off all the notification previews since the new update? For example i use to just get a message saying 1 new whats app message in the notification panel.

Since the update it displays the message across my phone with the name and part of the message.. Ive tried going into whats app and changing the popup option but it doesnt work. Same with messages.

I'm sure I didn't update, the night before when I received messages and missed calls it was normal, then the next morning I noticed it was changed..very weird and frustrating that I cannot figure out why, I even google it but nothing..guess I will just have to get used to it

I wonder if this could've been due to a Google Play Services update (which gets pushed to the phone in the background).

Message previews should be able to disable inside the messaging app, but overall preview settings should be in the new Notifications settings in your phone. There's Show all content, Hide Sensitive Content, and Do not Show Notifications.

Still have not figured this out, I deleted some apps and restarted the device many times
