Yes, it has a notification LED placed on the bottom of the phone, like the Nexus 4 or the Galaxy Nexus. In this video you can see it near the end:Nexus 5 Android 4.4 Hardware and Software First look - YouTube

I was asking the same thing, and I see that there is a lot of confusing here.

It's on the bottom of the Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10....

So that's why it's there?
