Notification locked up

On my notification bar I have three of the orange triangles with the exclamation point inside them. When I slide open the bar the notifications are.png images. When I try and slide them away they snap back on the screen. I believe they are from an image I received in a email. Problem is I receive emails from that person all the time and that image is embedded in their email. I have never had problems with the image before on other emails only on one date. Verizon suggested deleting the email. I need the info in the email so I archived it at home on my computer, but the notifications are still there. If you can believe it these are even more maddening then the select input method notification. Is a hard reset the only option?

I'm having this exact same problem and would like to know if there is an alternative to a factory reset.

I have never had this happen, but instead of swiping the notification have you tried hitting the X in the upper right hand corner?
