Notification plays 2 ringtones!

I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus and after changing my text notification it plays the notification I changed it to, and then play another notification sound directly after. Even if I change my default notification, or the text notification to silent, it still plays this other notification sound. Help?

Are you using a third-party texting app, or any other apps that control notifications (like Light Flow, or SMS Popup)?

Yes (Sancron Ringtones app), but even when I change the SMS ringtone to a stock ringtone it still does it. The sound it plays after is a stock ringtone.

Do you have a third party sms app? I use handcent. I've found that I have to disable notifications in the stock messanger app or I will get behavior like you are describing.

backup your text messages with "sms backup and restore"

then go to settings>apps>all>messaging>clear data
restore your text messages with SMS backup and restore.
and see if that fixes it.

Do you use this Sancron Ringtones app to set ringtones for notifications, or just to download them?

Also, have you tried disabling notifications in the stock SMS app?

Just to download. They show in my stock ringtone list.

Duplicate notifications are likely caused by installing an app that issues notifications while the stock system is also notifying. Just turn off one or the other.
