And as a heads up, you have to hold the button down to get the options menu to come up. Otherwise it just toggles it off/on.

I like the edge lighting but it comes with a huge tradeoff where you get the horrendous, tiny peek notifications that come and go within a few seconds. Only turning off Edge Lighting returns them to the much better large ones
This comment made me laugh. I know everyone has different tastes, but you call that notification "tiny" and "horrendous". If it's tiny, can it really be all that bad!? I actually love that notification, and prefer it greatly over the massive boxy bar that takes up a fifth of the screen and blocks my screen when I'm doing something. Both get my attention, but one is far less intrusive.
I kid you not, it bugged the life out for me for a while until I finally figured out what was causing it. I do appreciate many people prefer a more discreet notification like you get with the edge lighting setting as I found out whilst Googling for a solution to my issue. I was looking for the big, bold style whist others were trying to find the opposite or to remove the drop down notification altogether. I guess we're lucky that both styles are there for us and we at least get a choice to suit most.

hah! just learned something and I love that. I had adjusted my grid to give myself larger images. instead of increasing my notification panel to include all the available options, it just took them away. nice Sammy, or is it Google? very dumb imo. thanks for that picture since it setoff the thought process that helped me discover this.
Actually, you can just click on the text instead of the icon. And as a heads up, you have to hold the button down to get the options menu to come up. Otherwise it just toggles it off/on.
I never knew you could change the colors. Always just thought it's just blue. That's it.All 4 sides light up. Slide down your notification panel, swipe once and you will see edge lighting. Click edge lighting, click on details, then you will see option to turn edge lighting on, when to have it on, application to select to have edge lighting on and advanced settings to set the color, width and transparency of the edge lighting.

Thanks!
I enabled this but haven't seen it work. I just get the regular notification symbols, no lights. any idea what I might be not doing?
What carrier are you with? I'm on Verizon, having the same issue.
Have you tried changing the color or the transparency?I enabled this but haven't seen it work. I just get the regular notification symbols, no lights. any idea what I might be not doing?
