notification sound

Is there a way I can set the phone to make the notification sound for my text messages and not my email too?

You should be able to turn on/off notifications for texts and e-mails UNLESS you use the same app for both. But if you don't (which is what normally happens), you should be able go into each app's settings and either change the notification sound for each or turn them on/off individually.
