notification sounds stop working after awhile...

I have FDR'd my phone twice now, but no matter what, after some time my notification sounds stop coming through. A restart fixes it temporarily, but it always comes back. Started after Marshmallow. On Verizon too btw. All other sounds still work(UI, typing, phone calls, etc). Just my notification sounds stop.

Are you using a notification manager such as Light Flow or Light Manager? Or, a "battery saver"?

If yes, disable them and see if the problem goes away.

no I am not. I use only the standard system notification system.

Well, then, you have some other app on your phone which is interfering with them. The fact that it works "for a while" after rebooting is a good indication.

I am always suspicious of games, especially non-mainstream ones. Check the user feedback at the Play store for each of your apps; also, try to figure out which apps you might have used between the last reboot and when notifications stopped working again.

N4Newbie I uninstalled all the games, and what I consider non-essential apps, will run it for a few days and see how it goes.

I had a problem like this with a previous phone, it turned out to happen because the sound files I was using were on the SD card instead of internal memory. Once I moved them to internal all was OK.

All my sound files are internal, so that's not the issue

Verizon finally admitted to me today this a problem with Marshmallow and they are aware of it.
