Notification sounds treated as media - note9

[Android Central Question]

Has anybody noticed that notification sounds are being treated as media when in vibration mode.

For example: if the phone is on vibrate but the media volume is on 50%, the notification sound will play regardless.

This behavior only happens on vibrate with media volume up. Media volume muted will stop playing the notification sounds while on vibrate.

Any idea what setting is causing this?

I just noticed this on mine. It will also play notifications while on Do Not Disturb as well.

So, mine stopped doing this now. I rebooted and wiped the cache partition and haven't had an issue with this since then. But, I'm not sure if you have to do both or if a reboot alone fixes it.

I do not believe I have experienced this behavior, but I'm still on Oreo.
