OK, how do I enable notifications so that it appears on top of the clock face like it did with the previous Android wear version?

On your phone go to the Android Wear app. Disconnect and then connect again. That should fix your notification issue.
 
The Android Wear app on your phone. Click on the 3 dots on the top right corner. Click disconnect. Then connect again.

i will give that a try once i recharge the watch...hope the poor battery on day one is not indicitive of what it will continue to be..
 
i am an *****..watch was in do not disturb mode....that is way too easy to set with this version.
 
I've been having a no notification issue since the update on my moto 2. Tried factory reset and impairing but still not working. Any more ideas?
 
If only life was that simple lol I've exhausted every option through websites and asking for help in forums. I contacted Motorola directly and they said to send it in for repair. I'm guessing they want to downgrade and reinstall 2.0 only problem is is that they want a receipt from 2 years ago. If I cannot find it I may aswell attempt it myself but right now I've lost faith in the brand and seriously considering just binning it and buying a new one that's not the same brand. I work in a gadget store and in the past recommended it to alot of customers and friends who have purchased it through my advice. I feel bad now I've done that ??????

I'm in the same boat Danny. My gen-2 is useless... a dumb watch that only runs for 30 hours at a time. FYI there is a LONG running support thread here:

But I have not been able to revive mine, so for the past month its a nightstand clock and I have been wearing my traditional watches instead. Too bad, it was GREAT when it worked on 1.5.
 
So far I have not had any issue with notifications since I disconnected and connected again.
