Notifications aren't loud

I noticed that my notifications aren't loud for text messages and emails....meanwhile my ringtone will wake up a dead person. It doesn't matter what tones I use...is it just me or have other people experienced this?

Check Settings/Sound. There are 4 different volume controls and one of them is for notifications.

Well you can buy volume+ and boost your volume quite a bit.
