Notifications for FB and GMail app

My FB app was displaying notifications at the top left of the system bar since I've had this device not too long ago, but starting yesterday I haven't been seeing any. I have been getting updates as it does give the red notification balloons on the FB icon so I'm not sure what's going on. I've tried clearing the FB cache and still nothing.

Also, the GMail app never gave me notifications on the app icon or in the system bar... is this normal behavior?

Not at all. Since clearing the cache didn't work, reset the apps' data and see if that helps.

so I've actually gone to the point of removing and then re-installing the FB app, but still not getting of the notifications in the notification panel.

as for the gmail app, it shoukd display a red bubble on the icon itself when there's a nee message?

Have you tried turning it on and off again?

Just kidding, but seriously, if you haven't restarted the device yet, try that. Also, have you verified that both apps have notifications turned on?

yep, already tried those two... rebooted, as well as turning it and then back on to make sure it wasn't displaying a false reading. Not sure what's left!
