Question Notifications for Instagram not showing

Notifications aren't coming in for my wife.

The cache was cleared for the app and the phone. The app was uninstalled and reinstalled. The notification options were toggled off then back on.

Does anyone have any idea on what to do?

Is anyone having the same issue?

It sounds like you've done many of the basic things. Just a couple of questions.

All other notifications are fine? Facebook, Telegram, WhatsApp...?

Have you done a side by side comparison of settings? If it works on one but not the other this can be useful, especially if you both have the same device.

Do Insta notifications come through at all, ever? Maybe after the app has been opened?

I struggle with this suggestion because of the uninstall / reinstall actions you've taken but have you checked the battery settings. If the app had been put to sleep or put to deep sleep notifications would not come through until the app is opened. This plays off of my last question. To check this go to Settings>Apps>Device care>Battery>Background usage limits>Sleeping apps / Deep sleeping apps, check these lists and remove any apps found there that you disagree with being silenced.

Let us know what you find.

yes so its not me right i updated to latest version past thurs and was wondering why notifications aren't coming up unless i open app s25 plus phone i saw alot for comments and like was wondering what the heck you should not only get notify inside app but also outside app normal

i downgraded last update and see if i will get notify outside app i haven't yet even when i go notification category and comments turn on pop up nada it seems latest update had made notifications not show up outside app but it does inside app still i hope it get resolved next update<-i never had this issue before

hey mustang are you getting notifications outside app on s25 or not its basically likes and comments aren't coming up seems like it i still get notify when folks go live and messages i don't know what going on

Yeah, this has actually been happening to quite a few people lately — seems like a random bug on certain Android builds or newer Instagram versions.


Here’s what usually helps fix it:

1. Check system notification settings:
   Go to Settings → Notifications → Instagram and make sure all categories (like Messages, Comments, Follows, etc.) are turned on. Sometimes they reset after an update.
2. Battery optimization:
   Make sure Instagram isn’t being put to sleep. Go to Settings → Battery → App battery usage → Instagram, then set it to Unrestricted. This one fixes it for many people because Android can block background notifications otherwise.
3. Background data:
   Go to Settings → Apps → Instagram → Mobile data & Wi-Fi and make sure Background data is enabled.
4. Reinstall a stable version:
   If nothing works, uninstall the current one and try an older build from APKMirror — sometimes the latest versions glitch with certain phones.
5. Check system-wide Focus Mode / Do Not Disturb:
   Just to be sure, make sure Focus or DND isn’t filtering Instagram.

I had the same thing happen on my phone after an update — reinstalling from APKMirror and turning off battery optimization finally got it working again. Try that combo; it usually does the trick
