Notifications from Newspapers etc. won't scroll since JB

Since Jelly Bean when I get a notification i.e. NY Times with an important news line, I could previously press and hold on the msg and it would scroll across the screen so it could be fully read. Now I get a small box that says "app data" and if I press on it it takes me to the applications data screen. It will not, However, scroll so that I can see the darn message.
