I'm not sure how these got here or how to remove them, but I think they came from an older phone and just got transferred up.

I'm on a Pixel 8. It doesn't matter whether the Slack app is installed or not.

Where did these come from? How do I delete them? They're just in the way. I'll never select them for a notification. The Slack app already has its own, and probably changes over time, and these are probably not intended to be there now.

Oh, these may be files in the filesystem somewhere but I'm not sure where or how to look for them.

Have you tried to locate them in using your file management app? I'm not sure what Pixel uses, but it's called My Files in Samsung. The system files don't show up, but with Total Commander I see them.

OK I checked my Pixel Tablet (which has never had a setup transfer from another device), and it is indeed different from the Pixel 8.

When I opened Google's Files app, then went to Internal Storage > Notifications, it showed the Slack audio files along with a bunch of folders with names that match other notifications sounds in My Sounds. The folders oddly contain the .ogg sound files instead of the files being in the parent folder. These must have come from a previous phone during the setup transfer. This is the kind of thing that makes me dread setup transfers 😆 All kinds of unexpected things can happen regardless of the benefits.

Now however I'm realizing that I can move my old Galaxy notifications over, which I got used to and actually think are generally better than Google's 😆 I'm just unclear if there's some sort of default "Android notification sounds" that I can use across Android phones by default without having to worry about any form of transfers.

Anyway, thanks for the insight.

I've never tried using preinstalled notification sounds from one device on another. The only notification sounds I've transferred were ones I downloaded from the Zedge app, so I'm not sure about "default Android notification sounds".

You're welcome, and I'm sorry I can't offer any further answers. I'm glad you got some help from my post. Hopefully someone else here will be able to offer further assistance if you need it.

"default Android notification sounds"
This means "the notification sounds that Google made for Android"... as in, regardless of phone.

I'm not finding clear information on it other than I can try and install the AOSP and dig around for them.

I just find it odd that Google wouldn't have default notification sounds for Android or identify them as such on the Pixel. It seems silly that they'd only exist per phone brand.

The pixels do have default ringtones and notifications sounds

I think what I've said is getting further misunderstood.

I last was asking about Android default notification sounds.

Not particular to any phone.

Anyway, apparently this is not the thread to ask that in.

Saying "more so than Android" implies Android having default sounds... so... which Android default sounds are you aware of?
The only thing I can think of is system sound but that might not be true either like touch tone , keyboard sound etc..

None of my Pixel ringtones or notifications tone for the stock list show up on my Samsung devices , that's why I'm saying Android doesn't have a list they put on devices it's more the manufacturer.

I think THIS from the Google Support Community may help. Good luck.

System sound like touch tone or keyboard sounds are not notification sounds. That would be absurd to have them even be selectable as such.

This doesn't make any distinction toward default Android notification sounds as opposed to phone manufacturer/brand ones.

So, I guess I have to finish researching AOSP.

We were discussing default sounds when we were last chatting , like I mentioned notifications and ringtones will vary with manufacturers there isn't one that default Android notification or ringtone on other devices , Samsung /Google/One plus will have different default notifications/ringtones.
Can you make a notification default for all notifications sure or ringtone default for all calls definitely or you can individually.

The original question was about default Android notification sounds, not by manufacturer or brand, just AOSP.

Please understand the difference.
