Notifications not behaving the same since update

Since the Gear update a week or two ago, notifications no longer behave the same way. Previously, when a notification came in, it would show the subject/app briefly, then show the body such as a text or Hangouts message.

Now, it just shows the subject/app for around five seconds then goes back to the AOD without ever showing the body.

It's probably just a setting, but for the life for me I can't find it. Any help here?
