One issue I'm having is notifications seem to come in more when I unlock or wake screen up while on always on display notifications don't come through on time

I've been told this is due to android doze? Is there a way around this at all as coming from my max where I got notifications as they happened

I have this issue with my Note 9 - unlock the screen and wallah!

But check this:

Settings > Lock Screen and Security > Notifications > On > Hide Content > Off > Notification Icons Only > Off - should get them with the lock screen.

Settings > Lock Screen and Security > Notifications > On > Hide Content > Off > Notification Icons Only > Off - should get them with the lock screen.

Is it just me, or do these settings sound like the owner would've had to purposely change? I would think once the phone is set up, these settings ^ would already be set that way.

I've been told switch USB on in developer options

I don't agree with this either. I don't have developer options turned on and I get notifications with AOD. There must be something in the AOD settings that's blocking notifications.

Do you mean you are not using any battery saving profiles, or are you using batter saver? Can you post a screenshot?
Got nothing on I can see that would save battery

I had the same problem this morning. I woke up with no notifications and then I wake up my phone and boom, 2 emails, a shop Samsung, MLB At Bat. I have no battery saving options on, no do not disturb nothing.

Had this problem with the Note 9. Under battery just select the apps that can use as much battery as they want. I forget what it's called but the setting is in that general area somewhere.
