This is on an aging (but still good) Zenpad10 (P027) running Android 7.

My notifications across the top of my Home screen have disappeared. Both the ones on the left hand side (Facebook, Twitter etc) and the ones on the right hand side ( battery, wifi, time etc). They reappear when I have an App open eg Chrome. I haven't got a clue what I've done. I've looked through settings and can't spot anything.

Anyone any ideas please.

Thanks.

Sounds like you have a 3rd party launcher ? Show or hide notification bar , they will disappear on home screen but apps will show it Screenshot_20220115-144725_Nova7.jpg

No third party launcher as far as I'm aware. I have a very slight suspicion that it might have started when Lastpass informed me something about me needing to change my Autofill settings. Only other thing was I installed AVG free to see if I had a virus but can't be sure whether it was before or after the problem.
AVG has been removed and still have the problem.
Lastpass has been uninstalled and still got the problem.
There's a very faint line across the top of the screen where Notification should be. I'll post a couple of screenshots in another post.

Hope these have attached ok!

You can see the empty notification area at the top of the Home pages. Fire up Chrome, or any other App that doesn't overwrite the whole screen, and they appear.

Thanks for the help.

Did you reboot the device after uninstall?
Yeah some screenshots if you can and also try safe mode

Yeh, loads of reboots!
Tried Safe Mode but then realised I haven't got any notifications at the moment. I'll wait till I have some and try again.
Thanks for your help.

It shouldn't matter about notifications, though -- you should still see the clock, wi-fi icon, and other usual icons in the status bar.

Welcome!
Just want make sure no other 3rd party applications or apps causing this .

Ok, I see. Well I can confirm that the behaviour is exactly the same in Safe Mode.
Ok if still happening in safe mode then should be a setting, check under display settings another is tablet mode something like that .

Ok, I'll give it a try but I have tried for several days before posting here. I agree that its probably a setting but can't spot it. Is there a Gesture that could do this or a drag and drop of some sort?

I'm not familiar with your device but can give knowledge from my Andriod devices where to look

If you swipe down a little bit from the top of the screen, does the status bar reappear temporarily, then hide again? If so, that would suggest a native feature to auto-hide the status bar.

No swiping down doesn't make it reappear, I just the pull down list of settings, the clock etc. The notifications are there but in a list not in the status bar.

Interestingly when its on charge the lightning bolt from the battery indicator shows, screenshot attached.

Just wondering, are there any free diagnostic / troubleshooting Apps out there that I could try?

I can't think of any that would help with this.

Try installing a 3rd party launcher app like Nova Launcher as a test.
