Notifications Opening the app

When I get notifications on my phone while I'm using the phone the app with the notification will automatically open in the middle of what I'm doing. How do I stop that?

settings>notifications>app name> then adjust from popup to what you would like to happen

lol you're welcome, and thanks. that remains to be seen, but I hate in my face notifications so this is important to me lol
