Noticed with the Pie update, that if you're using a bluetooth device, the notifications only come through that. No longer comes through phone as well.

Can try to restart your phone see if goes back to normal, any steps you tried?

Yea I'm having the same problem since the AT&T Pie/OneUI update. It happens in my vehicles and when I'm using any wireless headphones.

I've tried several things and I haven't found a fix yet. Maybe an update to fix it will be pushed out soon.

Yes. That's the 1st thing I did... Did some searching, saw on Samsung community where someone said it was done for privacy... Which is good and bad. Folks dont keep bluetooth in their ears all the time...

Double check in setting then connection>bluetooth>advanced setting

I'm Having the exact same issue. I need my earbuds to be paired and connected for most the time, but cannot have them in ears at all times. I only noticed after my wife called me to make sure I was ok as I hadn't been responding to numerous relatively important texts. Wasn't replying because I hadn't heard the notifications. . . . because my earbuds weren't in my ear.
Have there been any solutions to this thing. This is really bad and obnoxious.

In an online chat with Samsung, they confirmed that the notification sounds will only play through paired headphones/speakers while those devices are on. I let Samsung know that many.....many people really dislike this "feature".

I've got this too... if I dont have my ear bud in my ear at the time I just swipe down the notification and press where is says audio output and it goes back to the phone.

This may sound "lazy" but this is all so ridiculous. I shouldn't have to swipe anything, or have an "either/or" situation. please don't miss understand, Im NOT lashing at you all in any way. I'm confused though. Samsung claims responsibility? I know that any time a new version of android pushes through, it has to frist be vetted through device manufacturer and service provider, but this change did occur when it was an android update and not a sumsung update, to the best of my knowledge.
Is there any petition of any sort (a legitimate one) that we can start or support? I don't know how those work.
Also, has anyone else been experiencing other BT issues since pie? When I turn on my BT headset or my car, I have to manually connect to my phone and many times have had to re-pair the devices. This is all pissing me off.
Although... I am loving making custom lock screens.
I mean, I know. . . who the hell looks at a lock screen, but it's fun. Any video = lock screen!? Boo-yah
