I'm having a lot of trouble setting my notifications. When I had a BB Cuve, I created a setting for "sleep" which silenced all notifications except for phone calls. My mobile phone is my ONLY phone. I don't want my phone to give me alerts at 3am when I get spam e-mail, or if someone tags me in a FB post. I want all the sounds and lights to be off between 10pm and 7am, EXCEPT for regular phone calls. And, it would be even better if I could set my phone to only allow calls from certain numbers, and send all other numbers straight to voice mail BEFORE it rings. I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I've looked in the Settings, but all I see is "Silent Mode" which silences all sounds except media and alarms. That doesn't work. I don't want media sounds, and the only alarm I would like is the wake alarm. The alarm for the Silent Mode includes all alerts.

I also tried setting up a Smart Action. I've got the Smart Action set to turn off my GPS, Wi-Fi, time out my display after 15 seconds, turn my ringer volume down to 33%, and I have a VIP caller mode set. Unfortunately, I haven't had success with this. In the middle of the night, when I get an e-mail, my phone alerts me with the robot voice saying "DROID."

Any thoughts or suggestions? I can't be the only one having this issue.

I can think of a couple ways to do this : you can set a smart action to turn off background data and active syncing. That should stop email and social app notifications. You could also get a sound profile app ( I use Volume Ace) and create a night time setting that silences everything except phone ringer.

Smart Action is a great app for this... just start Smart Actions, click the + sign, then Add a sample, select "Sleep"... you can adjust the Timeframe: Night by long pressing it then select Edit... Ringtone: Silient works, then connect the VIP Caller Mode and add the people you want to get any calls from.... and I also like to have it active only when it's "Charging", which can be added to the Triggers section... totally custom to what you want.
