Nougat update - camera resolution option gone

Hi everyone,

After the Nougat update, I have a small issue.

I take many photos on my phone and send them to email to my parents since I am travelling for a while. I don't care that much about the resolution as I simply take many photos and then send them or post them on social media. I'm not a professional photographer and therefore would like to minimize photo size and therefore resolution.

How to set Galaxy S6 photo size and video size? - Galaxy S6 Guide

So in the past I always used a 2.4M camera. It worked great for me.

But, after the update my smallest back camera is only 6M! That is a huge difference. The 2.4M camera is simply gone.

Now I know I could just buy a SD card and be done with it, but it just bothers me that my option to have photos at this setting in the resolution menu is simply gone.

Does anyone else have this issue after the update? Can it be undone?

Thanks in advance.

Honestly your the first person I've seen ask about lowering resolution in a long time, are you just trying to save space on your phone?

I've got a Note 5 with the same camera and software as the S6, and I have an S7 which has a different camera. Both phones are on nougat, the N5 smallest is 6MP and S7 is 3.7MP. I'm gonna guess the update changed that because it did bring changes to the app.

I checked another camera app downloaded from the Play Store and it allows dropping the resolution all the way down to .31MP. The app I tried was open camera, first thing that popped up when I searched camera app.

Hello sorry for my late reply.

Yes, I just want to save space seeing as I send many photos via email to my parents (yes we are old-fashioned).

And yes, my friends with a S7 have a smaller resolution now than me. Honestly a bit annoying..I know my issue is very specific but it is sad Samsung does not accommodate to all users.

I will use the application then if that helps. And thank you for confirming it is a software issue with respect to the update.
